As Yard Supervisor based at our Edinburgh Portables branch, you'll be responsible for leading daily yard operations, coordinating equipment movements and resources, and ensuring a safe, efficient and organised yard environment.
n
Working closely with operational teams, you'll establish daily priorities, manage equipment staging and transport activities, and provide leadership to yard personnel and contractors to deliver outstanding operational performance.
n
Your typical day will focus on
n
n
Managing daily yard operations and yard triage activities
n
Coordinating truck movements, equipment staging and hire schedules
n
Overseeing loading zones and ensuring safe equipment movement throughout the yard
n
Planning and prioritising work orders to meet operational and customer requirements
n
Leading, coaching and supporting yard employees and contractors
n
Allocating resources and managing daily workflow to optimise operational performance
n
Using internal systems and technology to monitor activities and drive efficiency
n
Building robust relationships with transport providers, operational teams and key stakeholders
n
Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across safety, productivity and service delivery
n
Championing a Safety-First culture and ensuring compliance with all company policies and procedures
n

We're looking for an organised and proactive leader who thrives in a busy operational environment and enjoys coordinating people, equipment and priorities.

You will ideally have:
n
n
Experience in transport, logistics, fleet operations, scheduling or yard operations
n
Previous leadership experience managing employees and/or contractors
n
Strong organisational, planning and prioritisation skills
n
Proven ability to coordinate multiple operational activities in a fast-paced environment
n
Confidence using technology, operational systems and data to support decision-making
n
A strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement
n
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
n
A practical, solutions-focused approach and strong attention to detail
n
