Horizon Surgical Eye Centre is seeking an experienced and motivated
Ophthalmic Technician or Clinical Optometrist
to join our team on a casual basis, supporting our ophthalmologist and clinical team on scheduled clinic days.
Located at the John Flynn Private Hospital in Tugun, Horizon Surgical Eye Centre is a specialist ophthalmology practice providing comprehensive eye care, diagnostic testing and treatment in a modern clinical environment.
This position would suit an experienced ophthalmic technician looking for flexible casual work within a professional and busy specialist practice.
About the Role
Working closely with our ophthalmologist and clinical team, you will assist with the efficient preparation and assessment of patients throughout the clinic.
Your responsibilities may include:
Undertaking preliminary patient assessments and ophthalmic work-ups
Visual acuity testing
Intraocular pressure measurement
OCT and other ophthalmic imaging
Visual field testing
Biometry and other pre-operative diagnostic testing
Assisting with patient flow and preparing patients for consultation
Maintaining accurate clinical records
Cleaning and preparing ophthalmic equipment between patients
Providing a high standard of patient care and communication
Supporting the ophthalmologist and broader clinical team as required
About You
We are looking for someone who is confident working in a clinical setting and understands the importance of accuracy, efficiency and excellent patient care.
Previous experience working in a busy ophthalmology clinic is highly desirable.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
Previous experience as an ophthalmic technician, ophthalmic assistant or in a similar clinical role
Familiarity with ophthalmic diagnostic equipment and testing
Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow clinical procedures
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A professional and compassionate approach to patient care
The ability to work efficiently in a busy clinic environment
Confidence working both independently and as part of a small clinical team
