We're looking for an experienced Leading Hand Boilermaker to take ownership of day-to-day workshop builds while remaining heavily involved in fabrication and welding.
n
This is not a desk-based Workshop Manager role.
n
You'll spend around 90% of your time on the tools, working alongside the team, with the balance focused on allocating builds, coordinating workflow and keeping production moving.
n
The Role
n
You'll lead a small workshop team of approximately five people and take responsibility for how builds move through the floor.
n
Your day will include:
n
n
Hands-on fabrication and welding
n
Reading and interpreting detailed fabrication drawings
n
Allocating work across the workshop team
n
Delegating individual builds and priorities
n
Keeping jobs moving against production deadlines
n
Supporting tradespeople with technical issues
n
Monitoring quality and workmanship
n
Identifying issues before they impact production
n
Working closely with management around workflow and priorities
n




Maintaining strong workshop safety standards
n
n
About You
n
We're looking for someone who is technically strong, practical and comfortable taking the lead on the floor.
n
You'll ideally bring:
n
n
Trade qualification as a Boilermaker / Fabricator
n
Strong structural steel or heavy fabrication experience
n
Confident drawing interpretation skills
n
Strong welding and fabrication capability
n
Leading Hand, Senior Boilermaker or supervisory experience
n
Experience coordinating or directing a small team
n
Good understanding of workshop workflow and build sequencing
n
A hands-on leadership style
n
n
You do not need to be an experienced Workshop Manager.
n
This role could suit an existing Leading Hand or a Senior Boilermaker ready to step up without stepping away from the tools.
