Director of Data and Academic Performance

Villanova College is seeking an experienced and values-driven educator to lead academic improvement across our school community, to commence January ****.
n
This is a high-level middle leadership appointment for someone who believes that data is not the destination - improved student learning is. The Director of Data and Academic Performance provides strategic and operational leadership of the College's approach to academic performance, faculty improvement and data-informed decision-making across Years 5-12.
n
Reporting to the Dean of Teaching and Learning, the Director leads the College Data Plan and Academic Performance and Improvement Framework, holds Heads of Faculty accountable for agreed improvement priorities and delivers high-quality analysis to the College Leadership Team and Board.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
Lead the development and implementation of whole-school frameworks for data collection, analysis, target-setting and academic improvement
n
Hold Heads of Faculty accountable for agreed improvement priorities through structured improvement cycles and evidence-informed professional conversations
n
Analyse and interpret NAPLAN, PAT, QCAA and internal assessment outcomes, translating evidence into clear insights and governance-level reporting
n
Develop and maintain academic dashboards and analytics tools that support leaders to make timely, evidence-informed decisions
n
Build data literacy and a culture of professional inquiry among teaching and leadership staff
n
Guide the Literacy and Numeracy Coordinator in setting College-wide improvement priorities informed by relevant data
n
Prepare reports, briefing papers and presentations for the College Board and its Committees
n
Identify students requiring intervention, extension or monitoring and coordinate appropriate responses
n
About You
n
The successful applicant will:
n
Hold appropriate tertiary teaching qualifications and current Queensland College of Teachers (QCT)



registration
n
Bring demonstrated experience in the strategic leadership of academic improvement in a secondary school context
n
Have a proven track record of leading and holding accountable a team of middle leaders, with clear evidence of connecting faculty work to whole-school improvement priorities
n
Demonstrate expertise in the analysis and interpretation of academic data, including NAPLAN, PAT, QCAA and internal assessment outcomes
n
Show capacity to build data literacy, qualified inquiry and a culture of continuous improvement among staff
n
Be committed to the mission and ethos of Catholic education, with the personal qualities and leadership character to serve as a senior leader in an Augustinian school community
n
Selection Criteria
n
Applicants are asked to address the following criteria in their cover letter (maximum 2 pages):

Demonstrated experience in the strategic leadership of academic improvement in a secondary school context, including developing and implementing whole-school frameworks for data collection, analysis, target-setting and improvement.
n
Proven ability to lead and hold accountable a team of middle leaders, with clear evidence of connecting the work of Heads of Faculty to whole-school academic improvement priorities through structured improvement cycles, evidence-informed professional conversations and measurable faculty performance expectations.
n
Demonstrated expertise in the analysis and interpretation of academic data, including NAPLAN, PAT, QCAA and internal assessment outcomes, with the capacity to translate evidence into clear insights,



governance-level reporting and purposeful recommendations for action.
n
Demonstrated capacity to build data literacy, professional inquiry and a culture of continuous improvement among teaching staff, including experience with academic analytics platforms, dashboards and tools that support leaders to make timely, evidence-informed decisions.

A demonstrated commitment to the mission and ethos of Catholic education, with the personal qualities and leadership character required to serve as a senior leader in an Augustinian school community.
