Water Infrastructure Services (WIS) is a leading engineering and construction company that delivers Capital Works and Renewals projects to critical water infrastructure agencies with a strong focus on safety and service delivery. We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our dynamic team in Burpengary, QLD. This is a full-time position that offers the opportunity to plan, coordinate, and manage the delivery of water infrastructure projects, with a focus on reservoir construction, maintenance, and dive works.

The role ensures projects are delivered in accordance with budget, schedule, and strict potable water compliance requirements, while supporting field teams operating in and around live (operational) water assets. The Project Engineer works closely with the Project Scheduler to align program scheduling, procurement lead times, and project planning and preparation for seamless execution.

Key responsibilities
n
Develop and coordinate project programs in conjunction with Project Scheduler
n
Prepare construction methodologies considering live potable water constraints
n
Develop work packs, job plans, and scopes for field execution, ensuring these align with the Program of Works maintained by the Project Scheduler
n
Review and interpret drawings, specifications and design documentation
n
Ensure alignment between scope, methodology, procurement and program
n




Plan and coordinate labour, plant, equipment, and materials
n
Procure subcontractor, materials and services in line with program requirements
n
Monitor project progress against schedule and KPIs
n
Ensure compliance with WHS, environmental, quality and potable water standards (including HACCP and ISO systems)
n
Prepare project reports (internal and PM directed external)

About you
n
Degree or relevant qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)
n
Experience in water infrastructure / utilities sector (highly desirable)
n
Proficiency in project planning and reporting tools (e.g., MS Project, Excel, Teams)
n
Experience in project engineering or coordination within water infrastructure, utilities, or similar industries
n
Working at Heights and Confined Space Trained or willing to obtain
n
Strong understanding of working on or around live potable water assets (e.g., reservoirs, tanks, dams)
n
Experience in construction, maintenance, or dive-related project delivery
n
Strong planning, scheduling, and organisational capability
n
Demonstrated experience in procurement, estimating, and cost control
n
Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
n
Robust analytical and problem-solving capability
