The Role
n
As a Surgical Administration Officer in the day surgery unit, you will play a key role in supporting patients and the clinical team by coordinating theatre bookings, pre-admission appointments, admissions and discharges.
n
You will also assist with eligibility checks, informed financial consent, payments, receipts and accurate patient administration to help ensure a smooth and professional experience for patients and visitors.

We are looking for someone who is positive, skilled and confident working both independently and as part of a team. You will be well presented, calm under pressure and able to manage competing priorities with minimal supervision.

You will be experienced in:
n
Scheduling:
n
Book, change, or confirm patient surgical procedures using electronic health record systems. Co-ordinate operating theatre times, and book pre-admission clinics.
n
Patient Communication:
n
Liaise with patients and carers regarding admission and fasting instructions.
n
Team Coordination:
n
Work closely with surgeon rooms, other departments, and theatre nursing staff.
n
Patient Greeting:
n
Welcome patients and visitors, verify identity, and complete admission.
n
Phone Management:
n
Answer incoming calls and routine inquiries from the public as well as doctor's rooms.
n
Data Entry:
n




Update patient records, insurance information, and billing records. Complete fee estimates for uninsured patients
n
You'll be confident in these skills:
n
Strong computer literacy and data entry skills
n
Solid time management, organisational and communication skills
n
Good understanding of medical terminology
n
Ability to work flexible hours throughout the Monday to Friday roster
n
Excellent communication skills and a pleasant, understandable telephone manner
n
Ability to multitask in a busy environment
n
Experience with handling personal/sensitive information and patient confidentiality
n
