Are you a qualified plumber who takes pride in doing the job properly, communicating well with customers and working without being constantly supervised?
Alfa Plumbing Gas Services is an established business in Cairns seeking a dependable and experienced plumber to join our growing team.
This is not a repetitive construction-only role.
You will work across maintenance, diagnostics, blocked drains, hot-water systems, plumbing installations, drainage repairs, excavation and selected projects.
WHAT WE OFFER
$50–$55 per hour plus superannuation, depending on demonstrated capability
Permanent full-time employment
Fully equipped take-home company vehicle for approved work and commuting use
$5,000 retention bonus paid across agreed employment milestones
Relocation assistance of up to $2,000 for an eligible applicant moving to Cairns

THE POSITION
You will be responsible for attending residential and commercial plumbing jobs throughout Cairns and the surrounding areas.
Your duties will include:
Diagnosing plumbing, drainage and hot-water problems
Completing maintenance plumbing and repairs




Clearing blocked drains using hydro-jetting equipment
Conducting CCTV inspections and identifying drainage defects
Repairing and replacing sewer, stormwater and water services
Installing and servicing hot-water systems
Completing plumbing installations, upgrades and project work
Operating excavators where qualified and competent
Explaining findings and appropriate repair options to customers
Preparing accurate job notes, photographs, reports and documentation
Following Alfa's safety systems, workplace policies and service procedures
Maintaining company vehicles, tools, equipment and stock
Supporting apprentices and less-experienced employees
Sharing technical knowledge and helping other team members develop
Leading by example through workmanship, reliability, accountability and customer service
Participating in a future rotating emergency roster under agreed written conditions

ABOUT YOU
You will ideally have:
A current Queensland occupational plumber and drainer licence
Certificate III in Plumbing and the applicable qualifications
A current Australian driver licence
Construction White Card




Strong maintenance and diagnostic plumbing experience
Experience with blocked drains, hydro-jetting and CCTV inspections
Experience with hot-water systems and general installations
The ability to work independently and organise assigned jobs
Good customer communication and problem-solving skills
Confidence using mobile job-management systems
A willingness to complete service, maintenance and project work
A dependable employment history and strong references
A professional attitude toward vehicles, tools, safety and company property
Gas, backflow, TMV, excavation, confined-space, working-at-heights and pipe-relining experience will be highly regarded but are not all essential.
OVERSEAS-QUALIFIED PLUMBERS
Experienced overseas plumbers are welcome to apply.
Employer-sponsored visa pathways may be considered for an exceptional and suitably qualified applicant.
Any assistance will be subject to skills assessment, work-right, migration and Queensland licensing requirements.
Overseas qualifications or visa eligibility do not automatically permit unsupervised plumbing work in Queensland.
