PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Area Manager is responsible for supporting the performance, people, and day-to-day operations of a group of clubs while maintaining a strong in-club presence. This role operates as a full-time equivalent (FTE) within clubs, contributing to operational coverage and ensuring consistent delivery of member experience, team performance, and operational standards.
The Area Manager plays a key role in supporting the leadership team by implementing initiatives, maintaining standards, and ensuring transparent communication across Sales & Growth, Operations, Compliance, and People. The role provides visibility across clubs and ensures alignment and consistency across all areas of the business.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
High school completion required
Cert IV in Fitness required
First aid and CPR certification required
Working with Children check required
Strong people management and KPI performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Compliance
Conduct weekly club audits and ensure standards are maintained
Monitor cleanliness, maintenance, and presentation of clubs to "elevate our member experience
Ensure cleaning supplies and compliance requirements are up to date
Complete banking and financial audits (EOD, receipts, refunds, documentation)
Oversee safety compliance including CCTV, minors, CPR and First Aid
Escalate compliance requirements (e.g. WorkCover, member statements) to Compliance Manager
Support delivery of club sales targets and KPI performance




Monitor membership lifecycle including onboarding and retention
Implement campaigns, promotions, and growth initiatives
Review club performance and provide actionable insights
Conduct 1:1 KPI, goal and performance check-ins with staff
Support team training aligned to sales and service standards
Provide corrective action and direction based on performance insights (e.g. mystery shop results)
Operations
Provide in-club operational support and coverage when required
Manage escalated member issues and conflict resolution
Troubleshoot operational issues before escalation
Oversee club maintenance and report issues as required
Ensure administrative tasks are up to date (calls, emails, systems)
Monitor key systems and feedback platforms (e.g. Medallia)
People Support
Provide visibility to HR on staffing updates, risks, and concerns
Support onboarding and day-to-day management of club teams
Reinforce HR policies, standards, and expectations across clubs
Escalate performance or conduct issues to HR appropriately
Support team performance, engagement, and accountability
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Area Manager may be required to support additional initiatives or responsibilities as reasonably required to support club performance and broader business operations.
CAREER PROGRESSION
Progression to a future Regional Manager role is based on strong leadership capability, consistent performance across multiple clubs, and the ability to contribute to broader business operations and initiatives.
