Technical Architect, Edge Infrastructure

An opportunity to join a large scale Edge infrastructure transformation, modernising the Linux hosting and container platforms that support a highly distributed physical environment.
n This role suits either an established Technical Architect or a robust Lead / Principal Engineer who has deep Linux engineering experience and wants broader architecture ownership.
n The opportunity You'll help design and modernise the Edge hosting environment, with a strong focus on Linux, containers, Kubernetes and OpenShift.
n You'll work across architecture, engineering and stakeholder management, defining how platforms are designed, built, automated and deployed at scale.
n The team is currently progressing a major OpenShift migration and broader Edge modernisation program, with a strong focus on automation and self-service infrastructure.
n What you'll do

Design and evolve Linux based Edge hosting platforms
n
Define architecture and technical standards across compute, containers and networking
n
Support the migration to Red Hat OpenShift
n
Design Kubernetes and container hosting solutions
n
Build and validate solutions in lab environments before scaled rollout
n
Develop repeatable infrastructure patterns using scripting and automation
n
Create technical designs, architecture diagrams and supporting documentation
n
Work closely with Engineers, Product Owners and senior stakeholders
n
Help enable DevOps pipelines and self-service capabilities for application teams
n

What we're looking for

Deep Linux engineering experience
n
Strong Kubernetes experience
n
Strong container platform knowledge
n
Experience designing and building infrastructure or hosting platforms
n
Strong command line, scripting and automation capability
n
Experience working beyond BAU support, including solution design and engineering
n
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
n

Highly desirable
n

Red Hat OpenShift
n
Edge computing or distributed infrastructure experience
n
Large scale multi-site environments
n
Infrastructure as Code
n
GitOps, Ansible or Terraform
n
DevOps / CI/CD pipelines
n
Networking knowledge across routers, switches and connectivity
n
n
You do not need to be a network engineer, but you should understand how networking and compute interact within an Edge environment.
