We're looking for an experienced Test Data Engineer to join a significant technology program and take ownership of building a reliable, automated test data capability across complex legacy environments.
n
This is a hands-on role focused on synthetic test data, data masking and automated setting reset. You'll be working with a long-standing, heavily interconnected PostgreSQL database and helping establish a sustainable approach that removes the reliance on production data within non-production environments.
n
A key focus in the first month will be proving that realistic synthetic data can be generated and environments can be reset reliably before the solution is scaled.

What you'll be doing
n
n
Design and build a synthetic test data capability for automated testing and training environments.
n
Work with internal SMEs to understand a complex, highly interconnected PostgreSQL schema.
n
Build the capability to generate and reset test and training data on demand.
n
Develop appropriate data masking and de-identification approaches to remove production data from lower environments.
n
Automate database and environment refresh/reset processes, reducing manual intervention.
n
Work closely with security,



legal and technical stakeholders to ensure the solution meets privacy and data integrity requirements.
n
Collaborate with the managed service provider responsible for the environments.
n
Document the solution and provide a clear handover to the internal team.
n

What we're looking for
n
You'll ideally have demonstrated experience:
n
n
Building test data capabilities for systems with complex relational databases.
n
Working extensively with PostgreSQL in a production or enterprise environment.
n
Implementing data masking, de-identification or privacy controls where regulatory or security requirements matter.
n
Automating
database/environment
refresh and reset processes.
n
Working independently to assess a problem, prove an approach and then build it into a repeatable capability.
n
Communicating effectively across engineering, infrastructure, security and business stakeholders.
n
n
Experience with AWS/RDS, synthetic data generation tooling, outsourced infrastructure providers, or highly regulated/data-sensitive environments such as government, banking, insurance or health would be highly regarded.
n
