Estimator / Operations Traffic Signals & Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS)
The Estimator / Operations is responsible for supporting the successful delivery of Traffic Signals and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) projects through accurate estimating, project coordination, procurement, scheduling, and operational support.
The role will work closely with project managers, supervisors, clients, suppliers, and field crews to ensure projects are competitively priced, efficiently delivered, and completed safely, on time, and within budget. This position provides an excellent chance for career growth within the ITS and traffic infrastructure industry.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare accurate cost estimates and quotations for Traffic Signal and ITS projects.
Review client specifications, drawings, scopes of work, and tender documents.
Obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
Develop bills of quantities and material take-offs.
Assist with the preparation of tender submissions.
Identify project risks and opportunities during the estimating process.
Maintain estimating databases and pricing schedules.
Contribute to value engineering and alternative solution proposals.
Operations & Project Support
Assist with project mobilisation and planning activities.
Coordinate labour, plant, equipment, traffic control, and materials.
Liaise with clients, subcontractors, local councils, Transport for NSW representatives, and suppliers.
Monitor project progress against budgets and schedules.




Assist in managing procurement and supplier orders.
Support project managers in the administration of contracts.
Track variations, claims, and project cost adjustments.
Ensure project documentation is maintained and updated.
Traffic Signals & ITS Responsibilities
Support the delivery of:
Traffic Signal installations and upgrades
Pedestrian crossing systems
SCATS infrastructure
Vehicle Detection Systems
CCTV SystemsVariable Message Signs (VMS)
Communications Networks
Electrical ITS infrastructure
Smart City infrastructure
Review traffic signal designs and ITS specifications.
Coordinate commissioning and testing requirements.
Assist with TfNSW compliance documentation and approvals.
Skills & Experience
Experience in estimating, project coordination, construction administration, or operations support.
Microsoft Excel
Microsoft Word
Outlook
Project management software
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Strong attention to detail.
Current Driver's Licence.
Experience in Traffic Signals, Electrical Infrastructure, ITS, Civil Construction, or Telecommunications.
Knowledge of Transport for NSW standards and specifications.
Experience using estimating software.
Understanding of SCATS and traffic signal infrastructure.
Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Electrical Technology, or related field.
