Queensland Health is investing $51.5 million over four years to expand specialist mental health services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.




n The statewide expansion includes the establishment of a Centre of Excellence and 12 current multidisciplinary consultation-liaison teams.
n These services will provide specialist assessment, treatment advice and support to improve mental health outcomes for people with intellectual disability.
n As the program expands, there is increasing demand for psychiatrists with a principal area of expertise in intellectual and developmental disability psychiatry.

About the Roles
n
These specialist positions provide expert psychiatric assessment and management for people with intellectual and/or neurodevelopmental disabilities, including individuals with complex mental health needs and challenging behaviours.
n Working alongside experienced multidisciplinary teams, you will provide specialist psychiatric care while supporting individuals, families and carers.

Who Are We Looking For?

We are particularly interested in psychiatrists who have:

Specialist qualifications in Psychiatry
n
A principal area of expertise in Intellectual and Developmental Disability Psychiatry
n
Experience managing complex mental health presentations in people with intellectual and/or neurodevelopmental disabilities
n
Strong multidisciplinary working skills
n
A commitment to patient-centred care
n
An interest in clinical leadership, education or service development
n
Current Australian specialist registration or eligibility for registration with AHPRA
n
n
Internationally trained psychiatrists are encouraged to enquire.
