Cattle Farm Manager - Fixed Term (12-months)

Mackays Group is seeking an experienced and hands-on Cattle Manager to join our team on a fixed-term basis, (maternity leave cover).

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Cattle Manager will take responsibility for the day-to-day management and performance of cattle and farm operations, including livestock, pasture, farm assets, safety and the farm team.

About the role

This is a hands-on management position suited to an experienced beef cattle professional who enjoys leading a team while remaining actively involved in day-to-day farm operations.

Key responsibilities
Managing day-to-day cattle operations, including animal health, breeding, nutrition, mustering and livestock movements.
Monitoring cattle performance, pasture, feed and water to optimise production.
Managing farm assets, infrastructure, equipment and maintenance.
Leading, developing and motivating the farm team.
Managing farm budgets and operational expenditure.




Maintaining high standards of animal welfare, WHS, compliance and quality.
Supporting strategic and operational planning to deliver secure, efficient and sustainable outcomes.

About you
Demonstrated experience in beef cattle and farm management.
Strong practical livestock and pasture management skills.
Proven leadership and people management experience.
A strong understanding of animal welfare, WHS and farm compliance.
Sound financial and operational management skills.
A hands-on, practical approach with robust problem-solving skills.
The ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions.
