SpringDale Neighbourhood Centre is a community-based not-for-profit organisation providing programs, activities, education and practical support to people in Drysdale and the surrounding Bellarine community.
n
We are seeking a Community Worker to support the delivery and development of community programs and services and respond to the changing needs of our local community.
n
This is a varied role within a small neighbourhood centre. It combines direct community support with program coordination, community engagement, referrals, administration and liaison with local organisations and service providers.
n
Key responsibilities
n
Respond to enquiries from community members and identify appropriate information, resources and support options.
n
Assist community members to access appropriate local health, welfare, housing, education, employment and other support services.
n
Provide information and referrals while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality.
n
Identify emerging community needs and assist in developing appropriate programs, activities and community responses.
n
Assist with the planning, coordination, delivery and evaluation of community programs, activities and events.
n
Support community education, social connection and participation opportunities for people of different ages, abilities and backgrounds.
n
Liaise with local community organisations, schools, government agencies, health and welfare services and other service providers.
n
Develop and maintain community networks and cooperative relationships.
n
Assist with community consultation, outreach and promotion of programs and services.
n
Assist with grant applications, funding submissions, project reporting, evaluations and acquittals.
n




Maintain accurate records and undertake administrative duties associated with programs and community support.
n
Contribute to the development and implementation of organisational policies, procedures, risk assessments and safe work practices.
n
Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, tutors, community groups and the Committee of Management.
n
Undertake other duties associated with the provision and development of community services at SpringDale Neighbourhood Centre.
n
Able to supervise lower classified staff or volunteers

Qualifications and experience
n
Applicants should have:
n
A Diploma of Community Services or relevant community services qualification or equivalent experience.
n
Relevant experience in community services, community development, a neighbourhood house or a related community setting.
n
Experience communicating with and supporting people from diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
n
An ability to identify individual and community needs and connect people with appropriate services and resources.
n
Experience assisting with the planning and delivery of community programs, activities or events.
n
Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
n
Sound organisational, administrative and record-keeping skills.
n
The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a small community organisation.
n
An understanding of privacy, confidentiality, professional boundaries, duty of care, child safety and workplace health and safety.
n
Appropriate Victorian screening checks as required for the position.
n
Experience in community development, adult/community education, grant-funded projects, working with volunteers and program evaluation would be advantageous.
