Piggery Attendant – Mating & Weaning Shed

Merivale Farms is a family-owned piggery looking for a reliable and hardworking person to join our team, working primarily in our weaning shed.
n
This is a full time, hands-on position caring for newly weaned pigs. A key part of the role is being observant and ensuring pigs are healthy, eating and drinking well, and receiving the appropriate care.

What you'll be doing

Daily feeding and checking of weaner pigs
n
Monitoring pig health, behaviour and welfare
n
Identifying pigs requiring additional care or treatment
n
Administering treatments in accordance with farm procedures
n
Moving and sorting pigs
n
Checking feeders, drinkers and water systems
n
Cleaning pens and maintaining shed areas
n
Washing and preparing sheds between groups
n
Maintaining treatment and livestock records
n
Following strict biosecurity procedures
n
Assisting with other piggery duties when required
n

About you
n
n




Reliable and punctual
n
Comfortable handling and working around pigs
n
Observant and able to notice changes in animal health or behaviour
n
Physically fit and comfortable with hands-on work
n
Able to work independently and as part of a team
n
Willing to learn
n
Previous piggery, livestock or farming experience is an advantage, but training can be provided for the right person
n

Hours
n
n
Monday–Thursday: 7:30am–4:00pm
n
Friday: 7:30am–2:00pm
n
Weekend roster: Approximately every third weekend, around 3 hours each day.
n
