Job Description
General Manager, North Canberra Hospital
Canberra Health Services seeks an accomplished healthcare executive to lead North Canberra Hospital through an important period of transformation, integration and growth.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and performance of the 320-bed North Canberra Hospital, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and person-centred services while maintaining a solid focus on access, patient flow, quality, workforce capability and financial sustainability.
The role requires an executive who can successfully balance operational excellence, budget management (managing a circa $350M budget) with long-term strategic thinking, bringing together the **** FTE staff around a shared vision and creating a culture that supports exceptional patient outcomes.
The General Manager will lead the hospital through its circa $2B redevelopment and future service planning, helping shape contemporary models of care and positioning the organisation for long-term success.
Key responsibilities
Lead the overall leadership and performance of North Canberra Hospital
Ensure delivery of safe, effective and person-centred services
Maintain focus on access, patient flow, quality, workforce capability and financial sustainability
Manage a circa $350M budget
Bring together **** FTE staff around a shared vision
Create a culture that supports exceptional patient outcomes
Strengthen alignment between the hospital and the wider health system




Foster a more connected and collaborative approach to service delivery
Lead the hospital through its circa $2B redevelopment
Shape contemporary models of care and position the organisation for long-term success
About you
Seasoned hospital leader with experience managing large-scale acute services
Experience managing complex stakeholder environments
Demonstrated ability to lead significant organisational change
Operational credibility and strong financial acumen
Demonstrated ability to build culture and develop high-performing teams
Ability to maintain trusted relationships across clinical, executive, government and community settings
