Local MR Truck Driver – Freight Forwarding

Custom Logistic Services is looking for an experienced and reliable Local MR Truck Driver to join our Melbourne operation.
n
This is a permanent, salary-based position offering guaranteed weekly income, Monday-to-Friday work and generally consistent hours. The role is based from our Dandenong warehouse and involves collections and deliveries across Melbourne, including regular visits to airport and seaport freight warehouses.
n
Standard working hours are approximately 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, based on a 38-hour week. There is no scheduled weekend work. Most deliveries are business-to-business.

The role also includes personal-effects collections and deliveries involving pallets and crates using a tail-lift and electric pallet jack.

Key responsibilities
n
n
Safely operate an MR-class vehicle throughout metropolitan Melbourne
n
Complete local freight collections and deliveries efficiently and professionally
n
Collect and deliver palletised and crated commercial freight
n
Perform tail-lift deliveries using an electric pallet jack
n
Attend airport, seaport and freight-forwarding warehouses
n
Use our MyFreight transport management system to receive jobs, update collection and delivery statuses, and record PODs
n
Obtain signed proof of delivery at the time each delivery is completed
n
Keep management informed of delays, unsuccessful deliveries or operational issues
n




Complete daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly
n
Assist with loading and unloading the truck using a forklift
n

About you
n

A current Australian MR licence or higher
n
A clean and safe driving record
n
Previous metropolitan pickup and delivery experience
n
Experience with palletised freight, tail-lifts and electric pallet jacks
n
Airport, seafreight warehouse or freight-forwarding experience is highly desirable
n
A current forklift licence is highly desirable
n
Comfortable using a mobile phone and digital transport-management system
n
Good communication and customer-service skills
n
Physically capable of safely completing the manual elements of the role
