About the Position:
As the GDS Fitter, you will inspect, fit, assemble, maintain, repair and overhaul mechanical components and systems used in a range of GDS products. You will work within the Bundamba MRO Team to help ensure equipment is restored to a secure, serviceable condition and completed to the required technical, quality and customer standards.
This is a full-time permanent position. Regular hours of work are Monday to Thursday, 6:15am–3:30pm, and Friday, 6:15am–12:15pm, with every second Friday off.
Tasks and Responsibilities will include:
Inspect, dismantle, assess, fit, assemble, install, test, maintain, repair and overhaul mechanical components and equipment.
Diagnose faults, identify defects and contribute practical solutions to restore equipment to a safe and serviceable condition.
Use measuring equipment to check dimensions, alignment, clearances, tolerances and component condition.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical instructions, job cards and other relevant documentation.
Operate hand tools, power tools, fitting equipment and workshop machinery safely and within the limits of your training and authorisation.
Complete work to the required technical,



quality and customer standards, including job cards, inspection records, checklists, timesheets and other maintenance documentation.
Work collaboratively with the MRO Team, assist other trades and provide general workshop support, site preparation and clean-up as required.
To be successful in this role you will:
Hold a relevant Australian-recognised trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter, Fitter and Turner, or equivalent fitting trade
Have demonstrated experience in mechanical fitting, assembly, maintenance, repair, overhaul or a comparable workshop environment
Be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
Have sound fault-finding, problem-solving and measurement skills
Be able to use fitting tools, equipment and machinery safely
Demonstrate a commitment to quality workmanship, safe work practices, reliability and attendance
Be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Hold, or be eligible to obtain and maintain, an Australian Government security clearance
Highly Regarded:
Experience in defence, heavy industry, HVAC, manufacturing, transportable infrastructure or maintenance, repair and overhaul work
Welding,fabrication, hydraulic, pneumatic or electro-mechanical experience relevant to the work undertaken at Bundamba
Currentlicences or competencies relevant to workshop operations, such as a forklift licence or working at heights competency
