Financial Accountant | Broad, Hands-On Role | Great Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to join a growing and dynamic business in Sydney. This is a broad, hands‐on position where you will be involved across day‐to‐day accounting, month‐end, reporting, payroll, reconciliations, compliance and financial analysis.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you'll work closely with the wider finance team and senior stakeholders, providing accurate and timely financial information while supporting the ongoing improvement of finance processes and systems.
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing day-to-day accounting functions
Preparing month-end reconciliations, reporting and financial information
Preparing and posting General Ledger journals
Managing banking and monthly bank reconciliations
Preparing monthly and quarterly reporting packs
Providing financial analysis and insights to the business
Supporting the maintenance and development of accounting systems
Processing payroll and reconciling payroll journals
Assisting with Accounts Payable and payment processes
Preparing and lodging BAS and IAS reports
Assisting with sales commission calculations
Supporting tax and audit requirements
Assisting with budgets, forecasts and variance analysis




Supporting statutory financial statements and audit schedules
Preparing documentation and responding to auditor requests
Assisting with monthly and year-end accounting activities
Providing general support to the finance team as required
To be successful in this role, you will have:
4 years' experience
in an all‐round Financial Accounting role
Tertiary qualifications in Accounting -
essential
Strong experience using
Xero
Solid understanding of month-end processes and financial reporting
Experience with GST and Australian tax compliance
Strong Excel skills, including complex spreadsheets and reconciliations
Good understanding of intercompany accounting and financial processes
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Solid organisational and time management skills
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills
A proactive, hands‐on and practical approach to your work
A genuine willingness to learn and develop
This role would suit someone who enjoys variety and wants to be involved across the broader finance function rather than being restricted to one area.
