Our client is a successful and growing Australian-owned organisation operating within the energy sector and is currently undergoing an exciting period of growth and transformation.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Assistant Finance Manager / Senior Bookkeeper to join the finance team and play a key role across month-end, reconciliations, payroll and broader finance operations.
Reporting into the Finance Manager, with regular exposure to the CFO, you will be responsible for taking ownership of key month-end reconciliation processes, supporting the preparation of month-end accounts and overseeing the Payroll Officer and broader transactional finance activities.
This is a hands-on prospect suited to someone who enjoys being involved in the detail while also having the opportunity to improve processes, introduce greater reporting rigour and develop into a broader finance leadership position.
Position Description
Take ownership of key month-end reconciliations and processing
Complete bank reconciliations across multiple group entities
Manage customer debtor and collections reconciliations
Manage and reconcile supplier recharge invoices
Ensure timely recovery of costs owed by installer partners
Manage leave entitlement reconciliations and processing
Supervise and support the Payroll Officer
Ensure accuracy and timeliness of payroll processing
Support the Finance Manager with month-end accounts
Provide oversight and support to a small finance team
Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and efficiencies




Assist with reporting and analysis as required
Reconfigure and improve accounting and reporting structures as the business continues to grow
Work closely with the Finance Manager, CFO and key stakeholders across the business
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will have strong experience within a transactional finance or senior bookkeeping environment, with solid month-end and reconciliation exposure, as well as:
5+ years' experience in a finance, bookkeeping or accounting role
Strong hands-on month-end and reconciliation experience
Recent and extensive experience using
Xero
Strong understanding across transactional finance functions
Experience supervising or mentoring junior finance staff
Understanding of Australian payroll and leave entitlement processing
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements
Strong reporting and analytical capability
Comfortable working in a fast-paced and growing environment
Experience using AI tools to support and improve finance workflows highly regarded
