This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate counsellor to support children, young people and families impacted by trauma, sexual assault and abuse.

Working within a highly skilled and supportive clinical team, you will provide trauma-informed therapeutic support to children, young people and their families while contributing to prevention, education and community awareness initiatives.
n
About the role:
n
You will join a passionate multidisciplinary team delivering specialist trauma-informed counselling to children, young people and families.
n
This role requires advanced clinical skills, a solid understanding of child development and trauma, and the ability to work collaboratively with families, schools, community services and other stakeholders.
n
Key responsibilities include:
n
n
Deliver trauma-informed assessment, counselling and therapeutic interventions for children and young people impacted by trauma and sexual abuse
n
Provide counselling and support to non-offending parents, carers and family members
n
Deliver group programmes, psychoeducation and protective behaviours workshops
n
Support young children presenting with sexualised behaviours through advocacy and therapeutic interventions
n
Maintain accurate and timely case records and reporting requirements
n
Participate in clinical supervision, reflective practice and continuous quality improvement activities
n
Build collaborative relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders
n
Participate in community engagement and local interagency networks
n
Promote culturally safe, inclusive and person-centred service delivery for all clients
n

About the service:
n
Our Trauma and Sexual Assault Counselling (TASAC) program provides specialist therapeutic support to children and young people aged up to 24 years who have experienced trauma, including:
n
n
Sexual assault and sexual abuse
n
Domestic and family violence
n
Interpersonal harm and coercive control
n
Accidents and disasters
n
Other complex traumatic experiences
n
n
The program also supports non-offending parents, carers and family members to strengthen protective relationships and promote children's recovery and safety.
n
n
Early intervention support for children under 10 displaying concerning sexualised behaviours
n
Therapeutic group programmes for children, young people and caregivers
n
Community education and sector consultation
n
n
About You:
n
To be successful in this role, you will have:
n
n
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or a related discipline
n
Current registration, membership or accreditation with a relevant professional body (e.g. AASW, PACFA, ACA, AHPRA), or eligibility to obtain
registration/membership
n
2+ years experience providing counselling and therapeutic interventions to children, young people and families
n
Demonstrated experience working with clients impacted by trauma, sexual assault, abuse and/or family violence
n
Strong understanding of child development and child protection legislation
n
Experience facilitating groups, workshops or psychoeducational programmes
n
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
n
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment
n
Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and culturally and linguistically diverse communities
n
Current NSW Working With Children Check
n
National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
n
