Senior Plant Metallurgist
to join our Sibanye Stillwater Australia team based on site at the Century Mine (Lawn Hill). This position will be offered as a permanent role on a FIFO basis either ***** or 8/6 roster.
The
Senior Plant Metallurgist
role is focused on driving metallurgical and operational improvements in the processing plant. It involves providing hands-on technical support to the metallurgy, laboratory, operations and maintenance teams to optimise site production and cost performance. Key aspects to the role include monitoring, analysing, and reporting on plant performance data to inform decision-making and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Additionally, the role oversees the leadership, development, and performance management of Plant Metallurgists and Metallurgical Technicians, fostering a culture of safety, innovation, and operational excellence.

Key Accountabilities shall include:
enhancing metallurgical and operational performance through regular monitoring, diagnostics, and process optimisation to improve recovery, concentrate quality, and cost efficiency.
leading metallurgical projects,



managing and mentoring team members, and supporting their development.
accurately reporting and analysing production data, reconciliations, and performance trends to identify improvement opportunities.
strong communication and collaboration with operations teams, including participation in handovers and pre-starts.
acting as a deputy for the Metallurgy Superintendent.
promoting safety and compliance through inspections, risk assessments, and maintaining equipment integrity.
committing to continuous improvement by developing standard work procedures / instructions, driving cost-effective decisions, and upholding high standards of accountability and work ethic.
About You:
Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Mineral Processing, or related field (essential).
6+ years' experience in a metallurgical or mineral processing role (preferably at least 3 years in a Plant Metallurgist role)
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Proven ability to lead or mentor technical teams and manage competing priorities.
Flotation experience (preferably in base metals / sulphides)
Metallurgical accounting & material balancing experience
Sound knowledge of mineral processing operations and safety systems.
Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g. Excel, Power BI) and metallurgical / operational software (JKSimMet, PI, Citect).
Experience in FIFO operations and remote site conditions (preferred).
S123 (QMS).
