Library and Information Services Traineeship

is offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and customer-focused person to commence a
two-year traineeship
while completing a Certificate IV in Library and Information Services.
This is an entry-level position designed for someone who is interested in building a career in libraries and the community sector. During your two-year traineeship, you will gain practical experience across multiple library locations within Campbelltown City Council, giving you the opportunity to experience different library environments, teams, services and communities.
Library and Information Services Traineeship - Certificate IV in Library and Information Services

This is an entry-level position designed for someone who is interested in building a career in libraries and the community sector. During your two-year traineeship, you will gain practical experience across multiple library locations within Campbelltown City Council, giving you the opportunity to experience different library environments, teams, services and communities.
Library Locations
You will be exposed to a range of library locations throughout the traineeship, including:
HJ Daley Library – Campbelltown
Glenquarie Library – Macquarie Fields
Ingleburn Library – Ingleburn
You'll work across different library locations on a rotating roster, giving you the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a variety of library environments and develop a broad understanding of public library services and the communities they support.
What You'll Get to Do
As a Library and Information Services Trainee, you will gain hands‐on experience across a variety of library services, including:
Providing friendly and helpful customer service to library members and visitors
Assisting customers with library enquiries and locating information and resources
Assisting with borrowing, returning and renewing library materials
Shelving, organising and maintaining books,



magazines and other library resources
Assisting customers with computers, printing, scanning and other digital services
Supporting customers to access online library resources and information
Assisting with new member registrations and updating customer records
Supporting library programs, activities, events and community initiatives
Assisting with children's, youth and adult programs and activities
Helping maintain welcoming and accessible library spaces
Assisting with displays, promotional activities and library resources
Learning about collection management, information services and library procedures
Supporting day‐to‐day administrative tasks
Working as part of a professional library team
Following workplace health and safety, privacy and customer service requirements
What You'll Learn

You will also complete a nationally recognised Certificate IV in Library and Information Services as part of the two‐year traineeship.

Is committed to completing the required online study and coursework throughout the traineeship
Is reliable, punctual and takes pride in their work
Is comfortable using computers and learning new digital systems

The Commitment
This is a two‐year traineeship that combines paid employment with completion of a Certificate IV in Library and Information Services.
To be successful in the role, you will need to be committed to completing the full two‐year traineeship and qualification, including online study, assessments and coursework alongside your work commitments.
You'll receive ongoing support throughout your traineeship from your My Gateway Field Rep and the experienced Library teams at Campbelltown City Council. They'll be there to help you develop your skills, settle into the workplace and stay on track with your training and qualification.
Good organisation, reliability and a willingness to learn and stay on top of your studies will be important to your success throughout the traineeship.
