Construction Field Supervisor - Contract

Your primary responsibility will be supervising and mentoring trainees undertaking their Certificate I in Construction, ensuring safe and productive work practices across community-based construction projects.
n
The role requires a combination of strong construction industry knowledge, practical supervision skills, and the ability to support and mentor trainees in a safe and inclusive environment. You will ensure full compliance with WHS guidelines, Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW) funding requirements, and organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities
n

Site Supervision & Coordination: Coordinate daily site activities, allocate tools and materials, and ensure all construction tasks are completed safely and in line with project requirements.
n
Mentoring & Coaching: Provide hands-on, on-the-job coaching to support participants in developing both practical construction skills and essential employability skills.
n
Safety & Compliance: Conduct site safety briefings (toolbox talks), manage hazards and risks, and maintain accurate safety records to ensure an inclusive, secure environment.
n
Administration & Reporting: Monitor and record trainee attendance, performance, and progress. Maintain project documentation in line with workplace, training, and SQW funding requirements.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Liaise regularly with project staff, community partners, and the Registered Training Organisation (RTO)



to align workplace learning with formal training outcomes.

What You Bring to the Team
n
n
Qualifications: A relevant trade qualification, a valid White Card, and a current Driver's Licence.
n
Industry Knowledge: Solid background in construction work practices, WHS, and hazard/risk management.
n
The Right Mindset: An understanding of the unique challenges faced by disadvantaged job seekers, paired with exceptional patience and conflict resolution skills.
n
Leadership & Communication: Proven ability in site supervision, work planning, and team coordination, alongside strong communication and teamwork skills.
n
Organizational Skills: Excellent time management and detailed recordkeeping capabilities.
n
Cert IV in Training and Assessment is highly regarded
n

Salary: $70,000 - $77,000 per annum + superannuation
n
Employment Type: Contract (with potential to become ongoing, subject to funding)
n
Location: Scarborough - Personal vehicle required (kilometre reimbursement provided for site travel)
