About the Opportunity
Randstad is proud to partner with a prominent Victorian State Government body responsible for delivering a major, multi-disciplinary infrastructure and public services program.We are seeking a proactive, highly organised, and collaborativeSenior Communications Advisorto join a fast-paced and high-profile media and content team.
This role plays a key part in shaping public narrative, combining creative storytelling, issues management, and cross-platform content creation to support public understanding of major state initiatives.
Role Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager of Media and Content, your daily responsibilities will include:
Strategic Communications:Developing and implementing comprehensive media and communication plans to support major project delivery.
Content Creation:Researching, writing, and editing high-quality, audience-centric materials including media releases, key messages, Q&As;, and engaging digital/social content.
Stakeholder Engagement:Collaborating closely with internal project teams, senior stakeholders,



and external government departments to gather information and ensure consistent messaging.
Media & Events Management:Identifying opportunities for positive media coverage and coordinating collateral for announcements, milestones, and media events.
Approvals & Support:Managing end-to-end communication workflows, including proofreading, reviewing content, and coordinating formal approvals within tight timeframes.
Key Selection Criteria
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
Government or Infrastructure Experience:Proven experience leading media and communication strategy within a fast-paced, high-profile, or politically sensitive public sector environment.
Exceptional Writing Skills:A strong portfolio of explicit, accurate, and succinct content tailored to diverse audiences across media releases, digital channels, and executive briefings.
Media & Digital Storytelling Nous:Demonstrated ability to capture positive media opportunities, manage reputation risk, and create compelling social media content utilizing modern engagement techniques.
Stakeholder & Project Management:Superior collaboration and influencing skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, navigate complex organizational structures, and maintain sharp political acumen.
Qualifications:A tertiary degree in Media, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related discipline is highly desirable.
