About therole
n
Townsville CityCouncil is seeking a Senior Sport & Recreation Officer to providespecialist advice, build strong partnerships and deliver programs,projects and initiatives that support a thriving sport andrecreation sector.
n
Inthis role, you will work collaboratively across Council and withthe Townsville community to strengthen local organisations, guidestrategic planning, and contribute to long-term,
sustainablecommunity
outcomes.
n
Reporting to theGeneral Manager Property, Fleet & Emergency Management, you willplay a key role in planning, advising and delivering services thatrespond to community needs and aspirations.
n
Youwill help grow and manage customer and stakeholder
relationships,champion
a customer-centric culture, and support Council'sstrategic vision for Townsville through safe, accountable andvalues-led service delivery.
n

Providespecialist sport and recreation advice to Council, communitygroups and stakeholders.
n
Support localsport and recreation organisations through programs, servicesand development opportunities.
n
Build andmaintain partnerships with community organisations,
commercialproviders
and government stakeholders.
n
Delivercommunity education programs, projects and initiatives thatpromote active and healthy communities.
n
Contribute tostrategies, masterplans, policies and plans that guide sport,recreation, play and open space outcomes.
n
Manage openspace use through user agreements, bookings and
usageadministration.
n
Prepare councilreports, briefs and presentations on complex issues andcommunity needs.
n
Provide adviceand support on external grant opportunities and Council grantprograms.
n
Model positivesafety behaviours and support a strong Workplace Health andSafety culture.
n

Aboutyou
n
Youwill bring strong experience in community sport and
recreation,community
development, stakeholder engagement and project delivery. You Will be confident working with diverse
stakeholders,identifying
community needs, and developing practical solutionsthat support sustainable outcomes.
n
Tobe successful, you will have demonstrated experience in sport andrecreation service provision, planning, program
development,implementation
and evaluation, along with strong
communication,research,
analytical and problem-solving skills.
n
Atertiary qualification in sport and recreation, health,
communitydevelopment
or a related discipline is desirable;
however,considerable
experience in a similar community development rolewill also be considered.
n

Demonstratedexperience
supporting a positive safety culture and meetinghealth and safety obligations.
n
Experience incommunity development, capacity building and community
planningprinciples.
n
Ability toengage effectively with Council departments, community groups,clubs, government agencies and other stakeholders.
n
High levelinitiative and the ability to manage competing priorities in afar-paced environment.
n
Experiencepreparing
detailed correspondence, reports, submissions andpresentations.
n
Ability tomonitor, manage and report on project and programfinances.
n
CurrentQueensland "C" class driver's licence.
n
