HEAD COACH — BFT MASCOT
n
This is more than a coaching job.
n
At BFT Mascot, our mission is to make a genuine difference in people's lives.
n
We're building more than somewhere people come to train.
n
We want BFT Mascot to feel like a second home - a place where people feel comfortable walking through the doors, supported when life gets hard, celebrated when they win, and part of a community that genuinely cares about them.
n
For us, fitness is part of a bigger picture: strength, mindset, wellbeing and community.
n
And I'm looking for a Head Coach who wants to build that with me.
n
Someone who loves coaching, knows their craft and wants to lead.
n
Someone who understands this isn't about our egos. It's about our members.
n
The opportunity
n
As Head Coach, you'll own the coaching experience at BFT Mascot.
n
You'll lead from the floor, develop our coaching team and take the programming provided by BFT HQ and make sure its intent is delivered exceptionally well in our studio.
n
But your job doesn't stop when the session finishes.
n
You'll help our trial members take the next step into membership. You'll know our members, notice when someone starts disappearing, and help keep people engaged with their training.
n
In simple terms, you'll own three big things:
n
1. Coaching quality
n
Exceptional sessions. Exceptional coaches. BFT programming delivered the way it is intended.
n
2. Trial-to-member rollovers
n
Help people experience what BFT Mascot can do for them and confidently take the next step into membership.
n
3. Member retention
n
Build relationships, notice when people are drifting and work with the team to keep our community training, progressing and connected.
n
What great coaching looks like here
n
We always, always, always lead with positivity.
n
That doesn't mean ignoring poor technique or lowering our standards.
n
It means we coach rather than criticise.
n
We're patient.
n
We meet people where they are.
n
We look for progress.
n
And we celebrate wins - including the small ones.
n
Sometimes adding weight to the bar is a win.
n
Sometimes simply walking through the door when you've had a terrible week is the win.
n
A great Head Coach understands the difference.
n
You need to know your craft
n
This isn't a role for someone who's brand current to strength training.
n
You understand the human body and movement.
You know how to coach strength safely and effectively. You can look beyond exercises and understand how to help a member actually get results.
n
You'll take ownership of BFT's programming as it comes from HQ - understanding the intent, preparing the coaching team and ensuring it's executed consistently across the studio.
n
You don't need to reinvent the program.
n
You need to master it and lead it.
n
You'll lead our coaches too
n
Your standard becomes our standard.
n
You'll coach alongside the team, observe sessions, give feedback and help our coaches continually improve.
n
We're looking for someone who can be confident without being arrogant.
n
Someone who can teach without needing to prove they're the smartest person in the room.
n
Someone willing to leave their ego at the door.
n
Because this is about the members, not us.
n
You'll need to be organised
n
Being a brilliant coach isn't enough for this role.
n
You'll need to manage your day, plan ahead and follow through.
n
You'll be comfortable using our CRM, spreadsheets, calendars and task lists.
n
You'll help organise the coaching team and proactively manage members who need attention.
n
You show up prepared.
n
You show up on time.
n
And you don't need someone constantly chasing you to get things done.
n
How we'll measure success
n
We're going to be clear about what winning looks like.
n
Trial-to-member rollovers
n
Target of 4 successful rollovers per week.
n
Retention
n
Monthly member churn below 5%.
n
Coaching
n
Consistent, high-quality delivery of BFT programming across the coaching team.
n
Member experience
n
A positive, welcoming studio where people feel known, supported and excited to train.
n
What you'll earn
n
$80,000 base salary
n
Plus:
n
$69 for every successful trial-to-member rollover.
n
At our target of four per week, that's approximately $14,000+ additional earning potential per year.
n
Plus:
n
$200 monthly retention bonus when member churn remains below 5%.
n
Hit those targets consistently and total earnings are approximately $97,000 per year.
n
But I want the opportunity here to be about more than money.
n
What I'll put behind you
n
I want someone who is invested in BFT Mascot - and I'll invest in you in return.
n
I'll work alongside you. I'm not an owner who expects the team to do something I'm unwilling to do myself.
n
We'll build an achievement roadmap together - where you want to develop professionally and personally, and what we can do to help you get there.
n
I'll invest in your ongoing education and development.
n
I'll support your mental wellbeing.
n
I'll celebrate your wins.
n
And when the studio wins, the team should feel that win too.
n
As we grow, I want the people who helped build this place to grow with it.
n
We're building something together.
n
What we're looking for
n
n
Certificate IV in Fitness or equivalent
n
Current First Aid and CPR
n
Australian working rights
n
At least 12 months of strength-training coaching experience
n
Strong technical coaching and cueing skills
n
Confidence working with group-training members of different abilities
n
Good organisation and basic confidence using CRMs, spreadsheets and calendars
n
The ability and desire to lead and develop other coaches
n
n
Previous leadership experience is valuable, but we're also interested in an exceptional coach who's genuinely ready to step up and lead.
n
Most importantly, you need to care.
n
About fitness.
n
About wellbeing.
n
About your team.
n
And especially about the people who trust us with their training.
n
The practical stuff
n
This is a full-time, 38-hour-per-week role.
n
BFT Mascot operates between 5:00am and 8:30pm, and your roster will include a combination of straight and split shifts across six days, including early mornings and evenings.
n
We're being upfront about that because this is a leadership role in a fitness studio. We need someone who wants to be present when our community is training.
n
Sound like you?
n
Don't send me a generic cover letter telling me you're passionate about fitness.
n
Tell me something real.
n
Tell me why you coach.
n
Tell me about a member you've made a difference to.
n
Tell me about a time you helped another coach get better.
n
And tell me why you're ready to take ownership of a coaching team and help build a community - not just coach another class.
