About the Role
Starick is seeking a
General Manager Growth and Development
to join our team.
This senior leadership role is responsible for driving Starick's strategic growth, service development, funding opportunities and business development initiatives to support the organisation's long-term sustainability and impact.
Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Team, you will translate organisational priorities into practical growth initiatives, service models, business cases, tenders, grants and implementation plans. You will provide high-level research, analysis and strategic advice to support decision-making around organisational development, partnerships, diversification and future service delivery.
The role leads significant tender and grant activity, ensuring opportunities are evidence-based, financially and operationally viable, and aligned with Starick's strategic priorities and the needs of people experiencing family and domestic violence.
Operating with a high degree of autonomy, judgement and discretion, you will contribute to organisational leadership, innovation and continuous improvement while supporting a collaborative One Starick approach across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Leading strategic growth and business development initiatives that support the organisation's long-term sustainability and impact
Identifying and pursuing new funding, partnership and service development opportunities aligned with Starick's strategic priorities
Leading the development of major tenders, grants, funding submissions and business cases from concept through to submission and implementation
Providing high-level research, analysis and strategic advice to the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Team
Developing innovative, evidence-informed service models and growth initiatives that respond to community needs and emerging opportunities
Building and maintaining strong relationships with government agencies, funding bodies, community organisations and strategic partners




Leading complex projects and cross-organisational initiatives, ensuring successful planning, coordination and delivery
Monitoring sector trends, policy developments and funding opportunities to identify opportunities for organisational growth and innovation
Supporting organisational planning, decision-making and continuous improvement through high-quality reporting, business cases and strategic documentation

To be successful in this role, you will have:
Experience in strategic growth, business development, funding, service development, tenders, grants or related functions
A strong ability to identify opportunities and translate ideas into practical and achievable plans
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess opportunities from strategic, operational and financial perspectives
Experience developing compelling funding submissions, tenders, grants or business cases
Exceptional written communication skills and the ability to present complex information in a clear, engaging and persuasive way
Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with executives, government agencies, funders and community partners
Excellent project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines




The confidence to provide strategic advice and influence outcomes across a diverse range of stakeholders
Sound judgement, discretion and a high level of professionalism when managing sensitive information
A collaborative approach and commitment to continuous improvement, innovation and organisational success
Tertiary qualification in business, management, community services, public policy, project management or another relevant discipline, and/or significant relevant senior-level experience.
Substantial experience in strategic growth, business development, funding, service development, commissioning, tenders or related functions within the community services, health, government or not-for-profit sectors.
Significant experience leading complex tenders, grants, business cases or other major written submissions.
Strong project management capability, including demonstrated experience coordinating complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, competing priorities and strict deadlines.
Strong understanding of governance, risk, quality and accountability requirements within funded service environments.
Highly developed written communication skills and demonstrated ability to
translate complex information into explicit, persuasive and strategically focused
documentation.
Demonstrated knowledge of the family and domestic violence sector and contemporary FDV policy and service delivery approaches.
Experience working within a government commissioning or funded community-services environment.
Experience in service design, program logic, outcomes frameworks and evaluation.
Experience developing strategic partnerships, consortium arrangements or collaborative service models.
Experience supporting Executive or Board-level strategic planning and decision-making.
