About the Role
We are seeking an experienced
Structural Steel Modeler / Project Lead
to join our team in Parkdale, VIC.
This is a senior-level position suited to a highly capable structural steel professional with
15+ years of industry experience
, strong technical knowledge and proven experience modelling and managing a team.
You will be responsible for producing and coordinating high-quality structural steel models and fabrication documentation, while also managing project delivery and providing leadership to a team of detailers/marking planners and modelers.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and manage detailed
3D structural steel models using Tekla Structures
.
Lead and coordinate a team of structural steel modelers/detailers.
Plan, manage and monitor projects from modelling through to fabrication documentation and delivery.
Coordinate structural steel models with engineers, architects, fabricators, builders and other project stakeholders.
Identify and resolve technical, design and coordination issues.
Manage project priorities, deadlines and deliverables.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior and intermediate team members.
Review team members' work and maintain a high standard of modelling and detailing.
Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, project managers, workshop/fabrication teams including asking and responding to RFIs.




Ensure projects are delivered efficiently, accurately and within agreed timeframes.
Contribute to improving modelling, detailing and project management processes.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
15+ years' experience in structural steel modelling
preferably within the Australian steel construction industry.
Advanced and demonstrated
Tekla Structures
experience.
Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication, erection and detailing practices.
Proven experienceleading and project managing a team.
Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
Excellent attention to detail and a robust commitment to quality.
Strong understanding of structural steel drawings, engineering documentation and fabrication requirements.
Excellentverbal and written English communication skills.
Confidence communicating with clients, engineers, fabricators and internal teams.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Ability to work independently while also providing effective leadership to a team.
A proactive, organised and professional approach to project delivery.
