Love dogs? Love being outdoors? Looking for an active job where every day is a little different?
n
Balmain Dog Walkers has been caring for the dogs and families of Balmain, Rozelle and the Inner West for over 15 years.
n
We have a lovely community of regular clients, beautiful dogs and a friendly little team who genuinely care about doing a great job.
n
We're looking for another Dog Walker / Pet Care Professional to join us.

Previous dog handling or animal care experience would be wonderful, but you don't need to arrive knowing everything.
n
We provide thorough, paid training and will teach you how we safely manage our dogs and group walks.

n
What You'll Be Doing
n
Your days will include:
n
n
Collecting dogs from their homes around Balmain and Rozelle.
n
Walking groups of up to four trained, well-socialised dogs.
n
Exploring our beautiful local parks and harbourside walking areas, while staying engaged with and focused on the dogs in your care.
n
Safely transporting dogs between home and walks.
n
Keeping an eye on each dog's behaviour, health and wellbeing.
n
Taking photos and little videos for our clients.
n
Updating walks through our dog-walking app.
n
Getting to know our dogs and becoming one of their favourite people.
n
n
Our walks include both on-leash walking and supervised off-leash exercise in appropriate, safe areas.
n
As your skills and confidence develop, you'll gradually progress towards managing your own regular groups independently.
n
We'd Love to Meet You If You...
n
n
Genuinely love dogs and have a naturally kind and caring approach with them.
n
Have hands-on experience with dogs and feel confident around different breeds, sizes and personalities.
n
Are comfortable around dogs playing and interacting off leash.
n
Are fit and healthy and enjoy an active outdoor job.
n
Can remain calm and think clearly when something unexpected happens.
n
Are reliable, responsible and have good common sense.
n
Are attentive and aware of what's happening around you.
n
Are happy to learn, take direction and receive feedback.
n
Enjoy working independently as well as being part of a small team.
n
Communicate warmly and professionally with people.
n
Are looking for a long-term role where you can really get to know the dogs and their families.
n
n
Experience in dog walking, dog daycare, pet sitting, kennels, veterinary nursing, dog training, rescue or other animal care is highly regarded.
n
Professional group dog-walking experience is a bonus, but it isn't essential. We'll teach the right person.
n
Hours
n
This is a Monday to Friday role, with shifts generally ranging from approximately 4–7 hours per day.
n
You must be available at least Monday to Thursday during daytime hours. Friday availability is highly desirable. Start time is usually around 8:*****am, depending on our arrangements.
n
We're looking for someone who wants to become a long-term part of our team. For the right person, there is opportunity to increase hours and potentially progress into a full-time role over time.
n
Pay
n
$33–$38 per hour + superannuation, depending on professional experience.
n
Fuel allowance is provided if using your own suitable vehicle.
n
Having your own vehicle is preferred, but not essential. We're happy to discuss options with the right person.
n
A Few Practical Things
n
You'll need:
n
n
A current Australian driver's licence and valuable driving record. Manual driving skills are needed for our vehicle. Not if you use your own.
n
Australian working rights suitable for the role.
n
A NSW Police Check, or willingness to obtain one.
n
A smartphone for our dog-walking app, photos and team communication.
n
To be comfortable working outdoors in different weather.
n
To be physically able to walk and safely handle dogs for several hours across the day.
n
n
Why Join Balmain Dog Walkers?
n
Honestly, it's a pretty lovely way to spend a working day.
n
You'll get to:
n
n
Spend your days with dogs rather than sitting behind a desk.
n
Walk around some of Sydney's beautiful harbourside parks.
n
Build genuine relationships with dogs who will be VERY excited to see you.
n
Get to know our lovely long-term clients.
n
Work locally rather than driving all over Sydney.
n
Join a friendly, supportive and experienced little team.
n
Learn loads about dogs, behaviour and safe group walking.
n
Have independence once you're trained and confident.
n
n
Our dogs aren't numbers on a schedule. We know them personally, love them and treat them as the much-loved family members they are.
n
That's the kind of person we'd love to add to our team too.
