OSMAC Apprenticeships is seeking a motivated first-year apprentice to complete a Certificate III in Security Equipment with an established security company based in Cairns, servicing Cairns region.
n
This opportunity would particularly suit:
n
n
Year 12 students graduating in **** or recent graduates
n
Someone interested in electronics, computers, technology or networking, programming
n
A practical learner who enjoys working with tools and solving problems
n
n
About the trade
n
This is a technical trade involving electronic security and communication systems. Working alongside experienced security technicians, you will learn how to install, service, maintain and fault‐find systems such as:
n
n
CCTV and surveillance systems
n
Security alarms and sensors
n
Access‐control systems
n
Intercom and communication systems
n
Electronic locks and related equipment
n
Data cabling and connected security technology
n
Security equipment used by businesses and commercial facilities
n
n
You will work across different locations throughout the Cairns region and gain practical experience while completing nationally recognised training, servicing schools, hospital,



airport, aged care facility, government building and business.
n
Once qualified, Security and Communications Technicians can build careers in electronic security, communications, data, networking, system integration and specialist technology services with very competitive salary!

About you

Have Australian working rights
n
Ability to obtain White Card, police checks, D&A; test, Blue Card
n
Have a genuine interest in technology, electronics, security systems
n
Enjoy practical work and learning how equipment operates
n
Are reliable, punctual and willing to learn
n
Can listen carefully and follow instructions
n
Demonstrate good work ethic
n
Have valuable problem‐solving skills and attention to detail
n
Are comfortable using—or interested in learning to use—hand and power tools
n
Can communicate respectfully and work effectively as part of a team
n
Understand the importance of workplace safety
n
Are willing and able to work at heights when required
n
Hold a current driver's licence or are progressing towards obtaining one
n
Certificate II in Electrotechnology or previous technical experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
