Alfa Plumbing Gas Services is an established business in Cairns seeking a dependable and experienced plumber to join our growing team.
n
This is not a repetitive construction-only role. You will work across maintenance, diagnostics, blocked drains, hot-water systems, plumbing installations, drainage repairs, excavation and selected projects.

WHAT WE OFFER

$50–$55 per hour plus superannuation, depending on demonstrated capability

Permanent full-time employment

$5,000 retention bonus paid across agreed employment milestones

Relocation assistance of up to $2,000 for an eligible applicant moving to Cairns

THE POSITION
n
You will be responsible for attending residential and commercial plumbing jobs throughout Cairns and the surrounding areas.
n
Your duties will include:
n
n
Diagnosing plumbing, drainage and hot-water problems
n
Completing maintenance plumbing and repairs
n




Clearing blocked drains using hydro-jetting equipment
n
Conducting CCTV inspections and identifying drainage defects
n
Repairing and replacing sewer, stormwater and water services
n
Installing and servicing hot-water systems
n
Completing plumbing installations, upgrades and project work
n
Operating excavators where qualified and competent
n
Explaining findings and appropriate repair options to customers
n
Preparing accurate job notes, photographs, reports and documentation
n
Following Alfa's safety systems, workplace policies and service procedures
n
Maintaining company vehicles, tools, equipment and stock
n
Supporting apprentices and less-experienced employees
n
Sharing technical knowledge and helping other team members develop
n
Leading by example through workmanship, reliability, accountability and customer service
n
Participating in a future rotating emergency roster under agreed written conditions
n
n

ABOUT YOU
n
You will ideally have:
n
n
A current Queensland occupational plumber and drainer licence
n
Certificate III in Plumbing and the applicable qualifications
n
A current Australian driver licence
n
Construction White Card
n




Strong maintenance and diagnostic plumbing experience
n
Experience with blocked drains, hydro-jetting and CCTV inspections
n
Experience with hot-water systems and general installations
n
The ability to work independently and organise assigned jobs
n
Good customer communication and problem-solving skills
n
Confidence using mobile job-management systems
n
A willingness to complete service, maintenance and project work
n
A dependable employment history and strong references
n
A professional attitude toward vehicles, tools, safety and company property
n
n
Gas, backflow, TMV, excavation, confined-space, working-at-heights and pipe-relining experience will be highly regarded but are not all essential.

OVERSEAS-QUALIFIED PLUMBERS
n
Experienced overseas plumbers are welcome to apply.
n
Employer-sponsored visa pathways may be considered for an exceptional and suitably qualified applicant. Any assistance will be subject to skills assessment, work-right, migration and Queensland licensing requirements.

Overseas qualifications or visa eligibility do not automatically permit unsupervised plumbing work in Queensland. Applicants should explain their current visa, skills-assessment and Australian licensing status when applying.
