Medical Receptionist / Ophthalmic Technician
Redlands Eye Specialists is a private ophthalmology practice located in the Mater Health Centre in Cleveland. We proudly serve patients in the Redland and surrounding areas. Our friendly team work together to support both Doctors and Optometrists who work collaboratively to provide patients with the best possible care.
About the role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our well-established practice as a
Medical Receptionist / Ophthalmic Technician
on a
full time
basis. This is a hybrid role, combining front-desk reception duties with hands-on ophthalmic testing, so no two days look the same.
This position is well suited to someone who thrives in a busy, fast-paced setting and takes pride in staying organised. We are a high volume practice, so the ability to manage multiple tasks, stay accurate under pressure, and deliver a high standard of patient care is essential.
You will play a key role in supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the front desk and ensuring an efficient flow of patients throughout the clinic.
Your duties will include but not be limited to:
Patient appointment scheduling and appointment book maintenance using
Genie




Professional handling of phone enquiries from patients and healthcare professionals.
Processing billing and receipting, including Medicare and private health fund claims
Maintaining accurate patient records and handling confidential information
General front office administration tasks
Performing clinical testing on patients (OCT, Visual Field, Optos, Ascan). Training will be provided
The successful applicant will:
Display a caring and compassionate attitude towards all patients both face to face and over the phone
Be prepared to work flexibly in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Be able to work independently as well as part of a team
A willingness to learn and adapt to new systems and processes
Skills and experience:
Previous training or experience in the medical field a bonus, but not essential. We can provide all training to the right candidate.
