About the Role
n
Carbal is seeking a compassionate and reliable Personal Care Worker to join our Commonwealth Home Support Program on a permanent part-time basis.
n
Working one-on-one with older people in their own homes, you'll help clients maintain their independence, dignity and connection to community through personal care, companionship, transport assistance and general wellbeing support.
n




This is a hands-on community role where you'll get to know the people you support rather than simply moving from task to task. Every day can be a little different, but the purpose remains the same — helping older people continue living safely and independently at home.

What You'll Be Doing

Personal Care
n
n
Assist clients with showering, dressing, grooming and personal hygiene
n
Support mobility and encourage clients to maintain their independence
n
Promote dignity, choice and wellbeing
n
Monitor client wellbeing and report concerns when required
n
n
Community Support
n
n
Provide companionship and social support
n
Assist clients to attend appointments and community activities
n
Provide transport assistance where required
n
Encourage independence within the home and community
n
n
Working as Part of the Team
n
n
Maintain accurate service records
n
Work closely with the CHSP team to provide reliable, quality services
n
Communicate changes or concerns regarding client wellbeing
n
Promote safe work practices and high standards of care
n
n

You'll Be a Great Fit If You...
n
Essential
n
n
Hold a Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing), Aged Care, Home & Community Care or equivalent
n
Have experience providing personal care in aged care, home care or community care
n
Genuinely enjoy supporting older people to remain independent
n
Are compassionate, reliable and comfortable working independently in clients' homes
n




Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
n
Hold current First Aid and CPR certification
n
Hold a current Open C Class Driver Licence
n
Have access to a reliable, insured motor vehicle
n
Hold a current Working with Children Blue Card, or are willing to obtain one
n
Hold the required worker screening/police clearance
n
Are committed to providing respectful, person-centred and culturally safe care
n
n
Desirable
n
n
Experience working within the Commonwealth Home Support Program
n
Medication assistance qualification
n
Experience supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and communities
n
Experience using electronic client management systems
n
n
The qualification, personal-care experience, licence and vehicle requirements are particularly significant for this community-based position.
