Duties and Responsibilities:
n
n
Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and building plans.
n
Measuring, cutting, and shaping wood, plywood, and other construction materials.
n
Constructing and installing building frameworks such as walls, floors, roofs and staircases.
n
Installing doors, windows, cabinets, shelves, and other wooden fixtures.
n
Repairing and renovating damaged wooden structures and furniture.
n
Operating and maintaining hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery safely.
n
Ensuring all work complies with building codes, safety regulations, and project specifications.
n
Inspecting completed work to ensure quality and accuracy.
n
Estimating materials requirements and minimizing waste.
n
Collaborating with architects, engineers, contractors, and other construction workers to complete projects on time.
n
Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
n
Following workplace health and safety procedures to prevent accidents.
n
n
Applicants must have:
n
n
Formal qualification of Certificate III in Carpentry
n
Proficiency in woodworking tools and equipment
n




Strong mathematical and measurement skills
n
Attention to detail and precision
n
Physical strength and stamina
n
Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
n
Time management and teamwork
n
Knowledge of construction methods and safety standards
n
Minimum one year of experience
n
n
Ideally you'll have knowledge of using a range of hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment and construction systems, including:
n
n
Hammers, chisels, hand saws, screwdrivers, levels, squares and measuring tapes.
n
Circular saws, mitre saws, drills, impact drivers, jigsaws and reciprocating saws.
n
Nail guns, fastening equipment and other carpentry power tools.
n
Laser levels, spirit levels and construction set-out equipment.
n
Ladders, trestles, scaffolding and other approved access equipment.
n
Timber framing, flooring, roofing and fit-out systems.
n
Timber, engineered timber, plywood, MDF and other construction materials.
n
Fixings, fasteners, adhesives and sealants.
n
Architectural and structural drawings, plans and specifications.
n
Workplace health and safety systems, risk assessments and safe work procedures.
n
Personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety boots, hard hat, high-visibility clothing, gloves, eye and hearing protection.
n
