APS6 Senior Stakeholder Engagement & Media Officer

Randstad is currently partnering with a prominent Federal Government entity to recruit a skilled and dynamic Senior engagement & Media Officer. Joining a collaborative, fast-paced communications function, you will support strategic priorities, protect organizational reputation, and craft compelling narratives across public channels.

Contract Length: 4 months with a 6 month extension option

Role Responsibilities
n
n
Develop and execute targeted media strategies to support key strategic initiatives and raise public awareness.
n
Manage reactive media enquiries, draft high-quality statements, talking points, and media releases under tight deadlines.
n
Proactively identify media opportunities, craft narratives, and mitigate potential reputational risks.
n
Build and maintain productive working relationships with media contacts, internal executives, and key stakeholders.
n
Produce strategic, audience-focused content across various communication channels.
n
Participate in an out-of-hours/weekend media on-call roster as required.
n
Track, analyze, and report on media metrics and coverage trends.
n

Key Selection Criteria
n
n
Experience: 5+ years of experience in journalism, media, or public relations.



Government, public sector, or complex corporate background highly regarded.
n
Communications Mastery: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of translating complex information into clear, executive-ready content.
n
Media & Risk Management: Strong judgment in navigating high-pressure issues, handling media enquiries, and managing reputational risks.
n
Stakeholder Engagement: Proven ability to build trusted relationships with senior leaders, subject matter experts, and external partners.
n
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft 365, media monitoring platforms, and an intermediate capability in leveraging AI tools to optimize workflow efficiency.
