Sante Recruitment is seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Top End Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service (TEMHAODS) in Darwin.
n
This is an excellent opportunity for a Psychiatrist seeking a senior clinical role within a comprehensive public mental health service, with the added opportunity to contribute to medical student education and RANZCP postgraduate psychiatry training.
n The Opportunity The successful applicant will provide Consultant-level clinical services in Adult Psychiatry across the Top End Mental Health Service as required.
n The position provides the opportunity to work across inpatient and community-based mental health services while contributing to the ongoing development of a high-quality, recovery-focused mental health service.
n Key responsibilities include:
n

Providing specialist Consultant Psychiatric assessment and management
n
Admission, treatment and discharge planning for patients
n
Providing clinical leadership and specialist advice to multidisciplinary teams
n
Working in accordance with the Northern Territory Mental Health and Related Services Act
n
Maintaining high-quality clinical records and documentation
n
Participating in clinical governance and service improvement activities
n
Participating in the after-hours psychiatric on-call roster
n
Working collaboratively with inpatient and community mental health services
n
n
The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Director of Psychiatry and contribute to a supportive multidisciplinary setting.
n Teaching & Training This position provides an excellent opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist with an interest in education and supervision.
n The successful applicant will participate in:

Teaching Psychiatry to medical students through the Northern Territory Clinical School
n




The RANZCP Postgraduate Psychiatry Training Program
n
Supervision and education of junior medical staff and psychiatry trainees
n
Multidisciplinary education and professional development
n
n

n About TEMHAODS The Top End Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service (TEMHAODS) delivers individualised, coordinated and recovery-focused mental health, alcohol and other drugs services to people across the Northern Territory.

Requirements To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
n
n
Specialist qualifications in Psychiatry
n
Current registration with AHPRA, or eligibility for registration
n
Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), or eligibility for Fellowship
n
Appropriate experience in adult psychiatry
n
A sound understanding of inpatient and community-based multidisciplinary mental health services
n
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
n
Commitment to high-quality, recovery-focused patient care
n
n
International Medical Graduates (SIMGs) with appropriate specialist qualifications and an eligible pathway to AHPRA/RANZCP recognition are encouraged to enquire.
