Cactus Jack's Gumdale is looking for an experienced and motivated Head Chef to lead our busy kitchen team.

We are a high-volume, family-friendly restaurant with a strong local following. Since opening our Gumdale location, the business has continued to grow, and we are looking for a Head Chef who can take ownership of the kitchen and help us maintain consistently high standards.
n
This role would suit someone who is not only a strong chef, but also a confident and supportive leader. You will need to remain organised under pressure, communicate clearly and create a positive working environment for the entire kitchen team.

Key responsibilities
n
n
Lead and manage the day-to-day operation of the kitchen
n
Maintain consistent food quality, presentation and portion control
n
Manage kitchen staffing, training, performance and team development
n
Prepare and oversee kitchen rosters
n
Monitor food costs, wages, ordering and stock control
n
Maintain appropriate stock levels and minimise waste
n
Ensure meals are prepared accurately and within expected service times
n
Maintain excellent food safety, cleanliness and workplace safety standards
n
Work closely with the owners and restaurant management team
n
Help develop systems that improve kitchen efficiency and consistency
n
Lead by example and contribute positively during busy services
n

What we are looking for
n
n




Previous experience as a Head Chef, Kitchen Manager or experienced Sous Chef ready to step up
n
Strong leadership and people-management skills
n
Experience working in a busy, high-volume restaurant
n
Excellent organisation and time-management skills
n
A calm and skilled approach under pressure
n
A strong understanding of food costs, ordering, stock control and wage management
n
Sound knowledge of food safety and workplace health and safety requirements
n
Reliability, accountability and a genuine commitment to the role
n
The ability to train, support and motivate chefs, cooks and kitchen hands
n
Availability to work evenings and weekends as required
n
Relevant commercial cookery qualifications
