POSITION TITLE: Educational Leader/2IC
CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time, Permanent
DEPARTMENT: Early Learning Centre
REPORTS TO: Centre Manager/Executive Director of Early Learning
BASIC FUNCTIONS:
Your primary role is to oversee, lead and develop quality reflective practices to deliver the Early Years learning framework to a high-quality standard. Effective leadership builds and promotes a positive organisational culture and qualified learning community (NQS Standard 7.2)
EDUCATIONAL LEADER KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
Leading and being part of reflective practice discussions about practice and implementing the learning framework. Reflective discussions and considerations for practice will focus upon interactions, routines, intentional teaching and learning.
Mentoring other educators by leading quality practice.
Discussing routines and how to make them more effective learning experiences, observing children and educator interactions and making suggestions on how to improve interactions and intentional teaching.
Talking to families about the educational program.
Working with other early childhood professionals such maternal and child health nurses and early childhood intervention specialists.
Considering how the program can be linked to the community by working with other community services such as Aboriginal Elders.
Establishing systems across the service to ensure there is continuity of learning when children change room or attend other services, and then in their transition to school.
Assisting with documenting children's learning and how these assessments can inform curriculum decision making.
The Educational Leader will be required to perform any other task as requested by the Approved Provider, Executive Director, Nominated Supervisor or management representative which is lawful and does not pose a health or safety risk.
The Educational Leader will need to demonstrate:

The educational leader should consider what strategies are needed to improve the educational program and at a minimum should perform:
Monthly curriculum reviews
Regular educator meetings
Training on any new research to assist educators.
Other Duties:
To act as Assistant Centre Manager when required;
Other duties as directed by the Executive Director of Early Learning.
2IC KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Contribute, through the Nominated Supervisor, to the development of the service's policies.
Co‐ordinate and direct the activities of employees engaged in the implementation and evaluation of developmentally appropriate programs.
Co‐ordinate service operations including Occupational Health and Safety, program planning, staff training.
Responsible for the day‐to‐day management of the service in the temporary absence of the Director and for management and compliance with licensing and all statutory and quality assurance issues.
Generally, supervise all employees within the service.
May undertake additional responsibilities including:
co‐ordinating the activities of more than one group
supervising staff, trainees and students on placement
assisting in administrative functions.
In conjunction with the Nominated Supervisor and Educational Leader monitor and provide guidance for the developmental programs and communication of these with families.
Support other educators to critically reflect on their practises and assist them in setting goals for quality improvement
Support all educators to demonstrate the Principles and Practices of the Early Years Learning Framework.
Monitor and guide educators to ensure supervision and staffing levels are maintained, communicate promptly and accurately any changes that are required to the Nominated Supervisor.
Be proactive in problem solving and finding solutions to issues and communicate these to the Nominated Supervisor.
Work in collaboration with the Nominated Supervisor to ensure all relevant checklists and forms are completed honestly and promptly as per the Service Policy and Regulatory requirements.
Take all reasonable measurers to ensure all children are protected from harm and hazard, including monitoring the set‐up of learning environments, including relevant fall zones and surfacing for climbing equipment.
Monitor and support others to comply with workplace health and safety requirements including taking all reasonable steps for their own health and safety while at work and take reasonable care that your acts or omissions do not adversely affect the health and safety of other persons.
Monitor child and educator numbers and provide direction to fellow educators to ensure compliance and consistency for children, communicate effectively with the Nominated Supervisor in relation to staffing requirements.
Support educators to ensure that positive behaviour guidance is used at all times.
Work closely with the Nominated Supervisor to identify areas of change as required and work in a team approach for continual improvement.
Work with the Nominated Supervisor to manage administrative tasks as requested, which may include, but is not limited to, family accounts, CCMS approved software and the delivery of CCS, fee collection from families, accurate records and reporting of attendance and absences and bookings.
Conduct tours of the service and manage enquiries as per direction from your Nominated Supervisor.
Facilitate new enrolments and ensure all paperwork and required documents are provided and fully completed prior to the enrolment commencing.
Work closely with other roles in the service to monitor and support them, including, but not limited to, administration, cook, bus driver and cleaners.
Coordinate, under the direction of the Nominated Supervisor, service events, external contractors and communication with families via email, the website, newsletters and social media platforms.
Perform any other task as requested by the Approved Provider, Nominated Supervisor or management representative which is lawful and does not pose a health or safety risk.
Ensure compliance with Family Assistance Law and all elements of the application of CCS as per the "Child Care Provider Handbook".
Ensure accurate recording and reporting of attendances and absences for children through third party CCS software.
Apply ACCS through third party CCS software accurately as per the Guide to ACCS (child wellbeing)
Complete GECCKO online learning for administering Child Care Subsidy

Working in accordance with the Code of Ethics of the Early Childhood Australia
Implementing the services' philosophy in undertaking all other duties
Working in accordance with the policies and associated procedures of the School and Centre
Provide ongoing support and assistance to other staff in all areas of service operation
OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY
Staff employed by The Rockhampton Grammar School Early Learning Centre have responsibilities relating to Occupational Health and Safety which require staff to recognise and support all of the Centre's Workplace Health and Safety Manuals, Policies and Procedures, in addition to taking reasonable care to ensure the health and safety of yourself and others at the workplace.
REQUIRED LICENCES/CERTIFICATES
Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent;
Current First Aid Certificate (approved by ACECQA)
Current CPR Certificate (approved by ACECQA)
Current Anaphylaxis Training (approved by ACECQA)
Current Emergency Asthma Management Training (approved by ACECQA)
Current Working with Children Check as required under legislation
National Police Check where administering CCS as a person in day‐to‐day charge
Commitment to maintainingcurrent knowledge and attending additional training as necessary
