Disability Support Worker – Complex Mental HealthEmpower Living Pty Ltd is seeking a compassionate and skilled Disability Support Worker – Complex Mental Health to join our team in Narooma, NSW.
This is a casual position offering flexibility whilst making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with complex mental health needs and disabilities.
You will provide person-centred support that empowers our clients to achieve their goals and maintain their independence within the community.
This role is integral to our commitment to delivering high-quality disability support services that enhance the wellbeing and quality of life of those we serve.What you'll be doingProviding direct personal care and support to individuals with complex mental health conditions and disabilities, in accordance with their individual support plansAssisting clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication management and household tasksSupporting clients to engage in community activities, social participation and recreation to promote inclusion and wellbeingBuilding trusting relationships with clients, demonstrating empathy, patience and respect for their autonomy and dignityMonitoring and responding appropriately to changes in clients' mental health and wellbeing, escalating concerns to supervisors or relevant healthcare professionals as neededMaintaining accurate and timely documentation of support provided and client progress in accordance with organisational policiesCollaborating with other team members,



healthcare professionals and family members to ensure coordinated and holistic supportPromoting client independence and self-determination by encouraging active participation in decisions about their support and goalsAdhering to all health and safety protocols, risk management procedures and duty of care obligationsWhat we're looking forCertificate III or higher in Disability Support, Community Services or a related qualification (preferred)Experience working with individuals with disabilities and/or complex mental health conditions in a support capacityStrong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse clients and stakeholdersDemonstrated empathy, patience and non-judgmental attitude towards individuals experiencing mental health challengesAbility to work independently and take initiative whilst also being a collaborative team memberSound judgment and problem-solving skills to respond appropriately to challenging situationsCommitment to person-centred support and promoting client choice,
