About the role
n
We're looking for an experienced Grocery Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day operation and performance of our Grocery Department.
n
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for driving sales and gross profit,



managing stock and ordering, maintaining strong merchandising standards and leading a productive and engaged grocery team.
n
You'll work closely with the Store Manager and broader management team to ensure the department is well stocked, commercially focused and delivering a great experience for our customers.
n

Key responsibilities
n
n
Lead the day-to-day operation of the Grocery Department
n
Drive sales, gross profit and department performance against targets
n
Manage ordering, stock levels, stock rotation and stock control
n
Maintain strong price integrity and promotional execution
n
Identify opportunities to increase sales and minimise stock loss and waste
n
Manage department merchandising, displays, layouts and presentation
n
Ensure the department is full, appealing and appropriately stocked throughout trade
n
Manage supplier relationships, deliveries, credits and discrepancies
n
Monitor and control department wage costs and other expenses
n
Prepare rosters to maintain appropriate staffing levels within wage targets
n
Lead, train, coach and develop Grocery team members
n
Support recruitment,



induction and performance management within the department
n
Maintain high standards of customer service and resolve customer concerns
n
Ensure compliance with Fresh & Save policies, Food Safety and WH&S; requirements
n
Complete required department administration, reporting and system processes
n
Work collaboratively with the Store Manager and broader store management team
n

About you
n
n
Previous supermarket, grocery or FMCG experience
n
Previous supervisory or department management experience
n
Solid understanding of grocery operations, ordering and stock management
n
Commercially focused with an understanding of sales, gross profit, wages and department costs
n
Confident leading, coaching and developing a team
n
Strong merchandising and store presentation standards
n
Comfortable using computer-based retail and stock management systems
n
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
n
Organised and able to balance administration with being hands-on in the department
n
Customer focused with strong communication skills
n
Able to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment
n
Committed to Food Safety and WH&S; standards
n
Physically fit and able to fulfill the requirements of the role
