As a Youth Worker, you will provide direct day-to-day care, supervision and support to children and young people living in Child Safety care arrangements.You will work within the young person's home environment and community, providing a safe, stable and supportive presence while helping them develop life skills, positive relationships and greater independence.The role includes:Providing direct care and active supervision of children and young peopleBuilding safe, positive and professional relationships with young peopleProviding trauma-informed and person-centred supportSupporting daily routines including meals, personal care, household activities and bedtime routinesTransporting and accompanying young people to school, appointments, family contact and community activitiesSupporting young people to develop independent living, social and emotional regulation skillsImplementing individual care plans, behaviour support strategies and safety plansRecognising and responding appropriately to behaviours of concern, escalation and crisis situationsMaintaining a safe and supportive home environmentSupporting young people following incidents or periods of emotional distressAdministering medication where required and in accordance with organisational proceduresCompleting accurate and timely progress notes, shift documentation and incident reportsImmediately escalating safeguarding, Child Safety and reportable conduct concerns in accordance with organisational proceduresCommunicating effectively with Team Leaders and Case ManagersMaintaining confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries at all timesParticipating in handovers, team meetings, training and ongoing professional developmentWorking across a 24/7 roster, which may include mornings, afternoons, active nights, sleepovers,

You will need to be able to build rapport while maintaining clear professional boundaries and following established care and safety plans.You will be expected to provide young people with consistency, structure and a safe environment while encouraging choice, independence and positive outcomes.Minimum RequirementsTo be considered, applicants must have:A relevant recognised qualification meeting the applicable Child Safety minimum qualification requirementsCurrent Working with Children/Blue Card clearance where requiredCurrent Australian Driver LicenceCurrent First Aid and CPRAbility to complete all required employment and child-safety screeningStrong written communication skills and the ability to complete professional case notes and incident reportsAbility to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary care teamAvailability to work across a rotating 24/7 rosterPrevious experience in residential care, Child Safety, youth work, complex behaviours, trauma-informed care or therapeutic support is highly regarded.
