Our opportunity
n
We have an opportunity for a Manager, Taxation to join our Funds Management team in our Sydney HQ.
n
In this role, you will be instrumental for the delivery of the taxation functions of compliance, reporting and forecasting for the various managed
funds/entities/joint
ventures of the Funds Management Finance function.
n
Reporting to the Financial Controller (Funds Management) with a dotted line to the Director, Taxation, you will have an Accountant, Taxation reporting to you. You will oversee a broad range of technical tax matters, including (but not limited to) Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Taxation of Trusts, AMITs/MITs, Withholding Tax, GST, Division 6C, tax depreciation, and thin capitalisation.

Your responsibilities will include:
n
n
Manage all tax compliance processes on an end-to-end basis in a manner that facilities timely lodgement / completion of all relevant tasks, including all internal and external reviews;
n
Preparation and completion of trust distribution calculations including determination of distribution tax components and withholding tax obligations for various entities and managed funds;
n
Preparation and completion of the trustee distribution resolutions and distribution statements/Fund payment notices/Annual tax statements to investors;
n
Preparation and lodgement of tax returns and associated schedules including liaising with relevant stakeholders for review and signoff as required;
n
Monitoring, updating and reconciliation of tax fixed asset registers, including follow up of QS reports and other trade break down information;
n
Oversee the maintenance of tax cost base records for assets and units and monitor tax cost base positions;
n
Preparation of Trust taxable earnings projections and scenario calculations, including taxable earnings and capital gains tax impacts and support strategic tax planning and modelling to review outcomes;
n
Maintain tax technical knowledge including identifying, advising on and implementing any matters relevant for Funds Management.

Your point of difference
n
To be successful in this role, you will bring a minimum of 8 years' taxation experience, including at least 3 years at Manager level. Your background may include experience within a mid‐tier or Big 4 accounting firm, or commercial experience within an investment or funds‐focused organisation.

You will also have:
n
n
Tertiary qualifications in
Commerce/Accounting/Business
n
CA/CPA qualified or Master of Taxation
n
Capability to manage the tax compliance function, and support and mentor junior staff.
n
Ability to priorities and respect deadlines
n
Demonstrated strong tax technical skills and the ability to clearly articulate tax concepts simply and clearly
n
A broad understanding of the diverse range of tax imposts and legislative requirements that apply to trusts and associated compliance processes and administrative requirements
n
Intermediate to advanced excel skills, ability to use and understand tax software packages (eg. OneSource) and use financial ERP/accounting systems (eg Yardi)
n
Well-developed communication skills (written and verbal), including the ability to proactively initiate consultation and escalation with internal and external stakeholders
n
Ability to interact and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
