Independent, client-side assurance role on one of Queensland's largest data centre construction projects.

This is a rare opportunity to work on the client side of a project of this scale — independently monitoring and verifying the General Contractor's safety and quality performance, rather than being embedded within the contractor's own team.

About the Role
n
Reporting to the Client Project Director, you'll be our eyes and ears on the ground — providing independent, evidence-based assurance that the General Contractor is delivering the project safely and compliantly to the required standard. You'll have direct access to the site, the contractor's records, and their management team, and a genuine seat at the table when it comes to reporting risk and driving corrective action.

This is an advisory and assurance position, not a construction management role — you won't be directing trades or managing the build, but you will be the independent check that keeps the contractor, and the client, protected.

What You'll Be Doing
n
Independently auditing and inspecting the General Contractor's safety systems, SWMS, and site practices against WHS legislation and the head contract
n
Tracking non-conformances and corrective actions through to genuine closeout — not just paperwork
n
Leading (any) independent investigation of incidents and high-potential near misses alongside the contractor's own process
n
Delivering clear, independent reporting on safety performance to the client's project leadership and governance meetings
n




Liaising with the Independent Certifier, building certifier, and relevant regulators as the project progresses toward completion and handover
n
About You
n
15+ years in commercial construction, including at least 7 years in a senior safety role
n
Proven experience in a client-side, owner's representative, or independent verifier capacity on large-scale commercial projects ($500M+)
n
Strong working knowledge of Queensland WHS legislation, the National Construction Code, and ISO **** / ISO ***** frameworks
n
Lead Auditor certification (or willingness to obtain one) and a Diploma/Cert IV in WHS or equivalent
n
A confident, independent operator who can hold their ground with senior contractor leadership while still building constructive working relationships
n
Current White Card and the ability to obtain project-specific site inductions
n
