About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and commercially minded
Team Leader, Marine Science,
to lead and grow our successful Marine Science team in Perth, WA.
As Team Leader, Marine Science, you will provide leadership to an experienced and established team with strong technical expertise, drive business growth through existing and new client relationships, and help shape the strategic direction of our marine services offering throughout WA and nationally.
Leveraging your extensive industry network and technical credibility, you will be instrumental in securing current opportunities while delivering outstanding outcomes for our clients and communities.
This role combines technical leadership, people leadership and business development in a highly collaborative environment.
This is a unique opportunity for a recognised industry expert to lead a highly respected and established team of marine scientists, and to contribute to delivering some of Australia's most significant marine projects.
Key responsibilities would involve:
Leading and mentoring a high-performing team of marine scientists.
Providing strategic technical leadership across marine, coastal and offshore projects.
Developing and strengthening relationships with existing clients while identifying and securing new business opportunities.
Leading major proposals, tenders and project pursuits across government and industry sectors.
Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including our highly respected approvals and coastal engineering teams, to deliver innovative marine solutions for complex projects.
To be successful for this role you'll need:
PhD in Marine Science, Marine Ecology, or a related discipline (preferred).
Extensive experience in marine science or marine ecology, environmental consulting, applied research or a related field.
Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and complex projects.
Strong understanding of WA and Commonwealth environmental approval frameworks,



including WA EPA and EPBC Act requirements and marine regulatory processes.
Expertise in marine environmental monitoring, marine fauna assessments, benthic habitat surveys, and environmental impact assessment.
Established relationships with key industry stakeholders, clients and regulators across Western Australia.
Proven ability to develop client relationships, secure new work and grow a sustainable business pipeline.
Significant experience working in multidisciplinary teams within a consulting environment.

Qualifications
Tertiary qualification in Freshwater Ecology / Biology, or Marine Science or equivalent.
PhD in Marine Ecology, Marine Science or a related discipline (preferred).
