The role
We are seeking a passionate, innovative, and experienced leaderto join St Michael's as Head of Drama and Theatre, leading thestrategic development and growth of Drama and Theatre as a keymember of the Performing Arts Leadership Team.
Commencing in Term1, **** for a three year tenue, this is an exciting opportunity toshape a strong and vibrant K-12 Drama and Theatre culture, leadingthe School's curricular and co-curricular Drama journey whileproviding artistic leadership across performance, theatre-makingand major Performing Arts productions.
The role will fosteropportunities for students to develop confidence, creativity,critical thinking and theatrical expression, while buildingmeaningful pathways that connect Drama learning with performance,production, future study and the broader creative industries.
Working collaboratively with Drama staff, Performing Artscolleagues, resident and external artists and the School'sproduction teams, you will provide strategic and artisticleadership that strengthens internal capability, responds tocontemporary theatre practice and student interests, and supportsambitious,



relevant and sustainable creative outcomes.
You will demonstrate
Specialist qualifications and experience in Drama and/orTheatre, with expertise in Drama education, performance andtheatre-making.
Current registration with the Victorian Institute ofTeaching.
A solid body of high-quality theatrical and/or creativework across school and/or professional arts settings.
Demonstrated experience leading and developing a successfulDrama and Theatre program, including curricular andco-curricular opportunities.
Demonstrated success in leading, mentoring and developingothers and building a cohesive, collaborative and accountableteam.
A broad and adaptable theatrical practice, with experienceacross Drama pedagogy, directing, performance, theatre-makingand production, alongside an understanding of contemporarytheatrical practice.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement progressivelearning and performance opportunities that support bothartistic excellence and broad student participation.
A creative, strategic and big-picture thinker who cantranslate a vision for Drama and Theatre into meaningful,relevant and sustainable action.
An ability to build productive relationships withprofessional artists,



theatre practitioners, companies,training organisations and other industry partners, usingexternal expertise strategically to complement internalcapability
.
Strong planning, organisational and communication skills,with the ability to manage complex programs, projects,productions and events.
A willingness and availability to work evenings andweekends when required for rehearsals, performances, productioncalls and Performing Arts events.
Demonstrated commitment to student wellbeing, inclusion,participation and the development of confidence, creativity,collaboration and connectedness through Drama and Theatre.
Current First Aid and Anaphylaxis certification isessential.
