Industrial Replacements Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Workshop Controller / Supervisor / Manager for Heavy Vehicles to join our team in Batemans Bay, NSW. This is a full-time position that offers a fantastic opportunity to lead and manage our heavy vehicle workshop operations. As Workshop Controller / Supervisor / Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our workshop, ensuring efficient operations, maintaining high standards of workmanship, and delivering exceptional customer service. This role is pivotal to the success of our business, as you will be directing the team, managing resources, and implementing best practices across all workshop activities.

Key responsibilities
n
Supervising and managing workshop staff, including mechanics, technicians and apprentices, ensuring they adhere to safety protocols and maintain high standards of work
n
Scheduling and allocating work to team members, managing workloads and ensuring deadlines are met efficiently
n
Conducting vehicle inspections, diagnostic work and maintenance on heavy vehicles, utilising your technical expertise
n
Overseeing routine and complex repairs, servicing and maintenance of heavy vehicles and commercial transport equipment
n
Maintaining detailed records of all workshop activities, repairs completed and vehicle servicing history
n
Ordering and managing parts inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels whilst minimising waste and unnecessary expenditure
n
Liaising with customers regarding their vehicle repair requirements, providing updates on progress and managing expectations
n




Ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, environmental regulations and industry standards
n
Identifying training needs for staff and implementing professional development programmes to enhance team capabilities
n
Maintaining workshop equipment and tools, organising servicing and repairs as required
n
Managing workshop budgets, tracking expenses and identifying opportunities to improve profitability and efficiency
n
Contributing to the development and implementation of workshop policies and procedures
n
What we're looking for
n
Recognised qualification or extensive experience in heavy vehicle mechanics, maintenance or repair work
n
Proven supervisory or management experience, ideally within an automotive workshop environment
n
Strong knowledge of heavy vehicle systems, including diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems and electrical components
n
Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks effectively
n
Demonstrated leadership capabilities and the ability to motivate and develop a team
n
Sound understanding of health and safety legislation, including WorkCover requirements and workshop safety protocols
n
Proficiency with workshop management software and computer systems
n




Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff
n
Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving workshop challenges
n
Current driver's licence and willingness to undertake test drives as required
n
Relevant certifications or credentials in automotive trades are highly desirable
