Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.

The opportunity
We have an exciting prospect for a qualified and experienced
HST Superintendent
to lead a high-performing team of Health, Safety & Training professionals at our mine site. The role is responsible for ensuring all safety practices and commitments comply with company standards and statutory requirements, while driving the implementation of the Safety Management Plan and key safety initiatives.
This role operates on a
5 days on and 2 days off, 4 days on and 3 days off, 9 days on and 5 days
off roster.
To be successful in the role, the following is essential:
Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety
Formal qualification in incident investigation methodologies, including InterSafe 8-Step, ICAM and TapRooT
Current Western Australian C Class Driver's Licence
Strong understanding of risk management principles, processes and their practical application within operational environments
Demonstrated experience using health and safety incident management databases and associated reporting systems
Highly developed analytical skills, with the ability to interpret health and safety data, identify trends and recommend targeted improvement initiatives




Comprehensive knowledge of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Regulations, Workers' Compensation and Injury Management Act, and relevant Australian Standards and Codes of Practice
Solid understanding of document management, data governance and information control processes
Minimum five years' experience in health and safety systems-related roles within heavy industry
