Chandler Macleod is seeking a talented APS5 Content Designer to join a Federal Government client on an initial 12-month contract, with the possibility of a further 12-month extension.

About the Role
n
As a Content Designer, you will support the creation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of digital content across web and online communication channels. Working within a collaborative digital environment, you will partner with subject matter experts, policy teams, service owners, and technical specialists to design content that is clear, accessible, and focused on user needs.
n You will play a key role in transforming complex information into simple, engaging content while ensuring compliance with Australian Government digital standards and accessibility requirements.

Key Responsibilities
n

Create, edit and publish digital content using content management systems, including GovCMS.
n
Develop clear, concise and user-focused content written in plain English.
n
Conduct content reviews, audits and remediation activities to improve quality and consistency.
n
Apply content design principles and best practice digital communication standards.
n
Work closely with stakeholders to gather information and convert complex material into accessible content.
n
Support website governance activities,



publishing workflows and content lifecycle management.
n
Contribute to user research, usability testing and content improvement initiatives.
n
Assist in developing information architecture and content structures that improve the user experience.
n
Ensure content aligns with accessibility requirements and government digital standards.
n

About You
n
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
n
n
Experience writing and editing clear, concise, audience-focused content in plain English.
n
Understanding of content design, digital communications and user-centred design principles.
n
Experience working with content management systems, preferably Drupal or GovCMS.
n
Knowledge of the Australian Government Digital Service Standard, Style Manual and WCAG accessibility requirements.
n
Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
n
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
n
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
n
A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
n
n
Highly Desirable
n
n
Qualifications in Communications, Journalism, Qualified Writing, Digital Media, Marketing, Public Relations or a related discipline.
n
Experience using web analytics tools such as Google Analytics.
n
Understanding of SEO principles and writing content for digital channels.
n
Experience working in Agile or multidisciplinary digital delivery teams.
n

Security Requirements

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance.
n
