We're looking for experienced support workers - not just someone to fill a shift.

Spirit Care is looking for an experienced Female Disability Support Worker to join our growing team across South-West Sydney.
n
We support participants with a diverse range of needs across community access, in-home support, day programs and higher-support environments. We are looking for someone who is confident, reliable and genuinely knows how to engage with participants, take initiative and deliver high-quality person-centred support.
n
This role would suit an experienced Disability Support Worker who can walk into a shift, understand the participant's needs and support plan, build rapport and actively contribute to a meaningful day — without needing to be constantly directed.
n
Due to the personal care requirements, privacy, dignity and expressed preferences of the female participants supported in this role, being female is considered an inherent requirement of the position.
n
What you'll be doing
n
You will provide direct support to female NDIS participants and may work across our day program, community and in-home services.
n
Your responsibilities will include:
n
n
Providing active, person-centred disability support
n
Building genuine rapport and maintaining professional boundaries
n
Supporting participants with community access and social participation
n
Encouraging independence, choice and achievement of NDIS goals
n
Planning and facilitating meaningful activities rather than providing passive supervision
n
Supporting personal care,



hygiene and daily living activities where required
n
Confidently supporting participants with behaviours of concern
n
Following Behaviour Support Plans, risk assessments and participant support plans
n
Recognising changes in behaviour, presentation, health or wellbeing and escalating concerns appropriately
n
Responding calmly and professionally to incidents and challenging situations
n
Completing clear, accurate and meaningful shift notes
n
Completing incident reports promptly when required
n
Communicating effectively with Team Leaders and management
n
Maintaining participant dignity, privacy, safety and choice at all times
n
n
The person we're looking for
n
Previous disability support experience is essential.
n
We're particularly interested in applicants who have experience with complex needs, behaviours of concern, autism, psychosocial disability, intellectual disability, personal care or high-support participants.
n
You should be someone who:
n

Is confident and experienced in disability support
n
Is warm and engaging while maintaining professional boundaries
n
Takes initiative and doesn't wait to be told what to do throughout a shift
n
Can keep participants meaningfully engaged
n
Remains calm during challenging behaviours or unexpected situations
n
Understands skilled boundaries and appropriate escalation
n
Is reliable and takes punctuality seriously
n
Communicates well with participants,



families and colleagues
n
Can follow support plans and risk-management strategies
n
Understands the importance of accurate NDIS documentation
n
Is comfortable receiving feedback and working within an accountable team environment
n

Essential requirements
n
Applicants must have, or be willing and eligible to obtain where applicable:
n

Relevant experience working within disability support
n
NDIS Worker Screening Check
n
Working With Children Check
n
First Aid and CPR
n
NDIS Worker Orientation Module
n
Current Australian driver's licence
n
Reliable and comprehensively insured vehicle
n
Full Australian working rights
n
Ability to undertake personal care duties
n
Availability for a mixture of weekday and/or weekend shifts
n
n
A Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services or similar qualification will be highly regarded.
